WITH six more or less satisfying victories under their belt, Shortrldge snipers will go after Wgßer and better recognition tonJght at the north side gym, when they tackle Charley Ivey’s Bedford cagers. Coach Kenny Peterman has a rangy and well-balanced quintet in his first year at the Blue school, and his team has advanced through six contests without# defeat. tt tt tt AHhoorh the Stone Cutter* have taken 'ome bard this season, Including * trouncing at the hand* of Bloomington’ so-oo Pant her*, the# nulled out of •he mediocre class last Thursday by tak•ng a fall out of the mighty Washington Hatchet*. Emerson, next door neighbor, won six out of seven. When thev got together, the Horsemen galloped ofT with the decision Maybe old Norm Werry was right when he bald Crown had a much better team after a couple of shifts. You'll know more about this tonight, when U>e Horsemen finish their game with the Trojans at Newcastle—ye*, the same Newcastle that bumped off Muncte and Anderson and will play at Tech Saturday night. tt tt tt Babe Wheeler’* Brazil Red Devils, who had the doubtful honor of being the first Hoosier team to bow to Athens, came back with a vengeance to topple Greenc/v*tle. Boyer and GuUifer were the big nolnt-and-guard men for the victors. Maybe you think Brazil doesn’t like to beat Greeucastle—and Crawfordsvllle, whom they handed a five noint setback a few nights previously. Perhaps that Athens Incident gave Babe a good talking point —and Babe ean talk when he has something to say. tt tt tt Dear Backboard: X see where Tech Is Jroing wild with the well-worn cry, “We’re ust getting started.” The east side squad ooked fair at the start of the season, but now they're Just another bunch of basketball players. Manual Isn't so hot and Washington and Broad Ripple don’t count, so that Just leaves Shortrldge to uphold the honor of the capital cltv. A couple of Tech Jellies asked you to defend them from attacks of Shortrldge lilies the other day. Please do this, as these poor little fellows must be defended and It seems like voure the only one that can help them. And Manual is clamoring for some support. Manual is the kind of a school that would say about the first of the year, .Why didn’t they let us take a crack at Athens. SHORTRIDGE UL. tt tt tt And now we're looking forward to some verbal fireworks from the east side Arsenal. In fact, here they come. tt tt tt Hello.
