422 CHILDREN GET CLOTHING IN YULE DRIVE Many Are Made Happy by Kind-Hearted Donors in Times Campaign. Spirit of The Times Clothe a Child for Christmas campaign, which culminated Wednesday with the outfitting of 422 children, continued after the Yuletide with several firms and individuals requestings the names of children to be a*ded. The requests were turned over to charitable agencies of the city for handling. A complete check was being made today of the list of donors and children clothed. Many Others Helped In many instances the number of children clothed by the donors does not tell the true story of their efforts in behalf of needy boys and girls of the pity. For the “Clothe-a-Child” campaign was primarily conducted for children of school age. But many of the pledges in the campaign dipped into babyhood and high school and even aided parents with clothing and dismissed their additional efforts with, “That’s just extra. We wanted to do it, even though it does not count.’’ In other cases, the donors couldn’t resist giving toys, food, coal, and other necessities in the families of the children they helped. Donors Are Thanked “We may duplicate,” one man said when he was warned that other charitable organizations would furnish the remainder of the Christmas, “but we believe this family so worthy that they will do well with whatever we give them.” The Times wishes to thank the donors to the fund for their efforts in the campaign, the parents of the needy children for their co-opera-tion, and the investigations and aid given the campaign by. the Christmas Clearing House and all Community Fund relief agencies in furnishing the names and addresses of worthy families to be cared for.
