SHEET.METAL COMPANY WINS RAPID SUCCESS Achieves Wide Recognition in Varied Activities by Conscientious Work. Indianapolis is like a lot of other American cities. It goes on from day to day, unconscious of the fact that it has a number of friendly, busy business men who are toiling and working, not alone for selfambition, but for the civic and industrial betterment of the city itself. Such a man is V. E. Sprouse and such a company is the V. E. Sprouse Company, 12 North Liberty street, manufacturers of sheet metal specialties, welders and brazers. True, this company has been or-0-nized for just two years, but ten me . have been working there, *• ling up the youthful dreams of fe, ouse into reality, dreams that v gan when he was just 17 years old, when he first started in the business. Builds Novelties Sprouse has molded into his business fourteen years of experience, years that have brought him many ideas as to how he may expand that business into a large one. For instance, the V. E. Sprouse Company does not merely confine its endeavor to sheet metal work, welding and brazing. Many novelties are manufactured. Check machines are turned out, electric heaters, mufflers, cash boxes, adding machine parts are manufactured, radio parts, novelties that are working themselves into the useful everyday life of the city and country, products that men need to better their social and business conditions. Shop Well Equipped That is the reason the V. E. Sprouse Company has succeeded and why it will continue to succeedt as the years add more expansion, more experience and more growth. The company has been declared by expert outside mechanics to be the most thoroughly equipped and completely modem metal and machine shop in Indianapolis. Mechanics at the V. E. Sprouse Company are not beginners; they must have experience before they can become a part of the Ssrouse organization. There can be no mistakes in workmanship. The class of workmen of this company is a living guarantee of that statement. Hence the growth in business nd the growth in confidence and responsibility that has been placed in this organization, Efficient Welders For instance, 2.000 hot water heaters were manufactured in one year’s time by the V. E. Sprouse Com. any for one large establishment. Spot and acetylene welding form an important part- of the every day business of the company. Aluminum, brass, copper and bronze work is done efficiently. Light sheet metal parts of every description are manufactured. This organization is ready t( work and figure on any class of workmanship in its line. The telephone number is Riley 2858.
Immense Sum Wasted Annually by Motorists
Poorly Aligned Wheels of Cars Take Heavy Toll in Tire Mileage. If American motorists but knew the terrible price they pay for carelessness, they would stand aghast at their own extravagance. The Bear Scientific Wheel Aligning station, 928 East Washington street, offers facts to prove that statement. Hundreds of thousands of dollars are wasted every year in the United States on tires alone—wasted because scuffing, pitting, cupping and gouging of the tread is reducing tire

mileage on many cars to half of what it ought to be. This is not altogether the motorists’ own fault—because most of the abusive tire wear is caused by misalignment of the steering parts, and the entire subject of wheel and axle alignment is so new in the automotive trade that many otherwise competent garage men and mechanics are not thoroughly acquainted with steering alignment and how to correct it. And with many active workers in the trade more or less at sea, it is little wonder that the average car owner has practically no knowledge or conception of the steering alignment of his car, and what sort of abusive tire wear justly can be charged to misalignment. But the idividual motorist fast is taking an active interest in alignment, because he is beginning to realize that wheel and anxle alignment is responsible for a tremendous and unnecessary drain on his pocketbook, as well as the inconvenience and danger of trying to drive a car that shimmies or is hard to steer. It is with a purpose of giving the individual motorist an idea of the principles of wheel and axle alignment that this article and those which will follow have been written, and also to show how' scuffing, pitting, cupping and gouging of tires, as well as shimmy and other steering troubles are caused directly by misalignment. The individual motorist will be well repaid for Iris interes u in the subject by the greatly increased tire mileage which he will receive from his tires as well as the freedom of troubles and dangerous steering conditions. It was stated above that the whole subject of wheel and axle alignment was of comparatively recent origin. It may be said to have had its origin with the advent of balloon tires and four-wheel brakes, which will be discussed in the next Bear Scientific Wheel iJigning station article.
GOOD RECORDS HELP BUSINESS Check on Profit or Loss Is Essential to Firm. With the end of the year approaching the time draws near when every business man will be interested in knowing what has been accomplished in the way of a profit or loss from the year’s operations. For those who have not been fortunate enough in the past to have a good set, of records, now is the time to give this matter immediate consideration and start out the new year by knowing a all times that all business transactions are being handled properly. In the case of those who keep only partial or memorandum records, then there is no better time than now to have records modified so that they will disclose all facts and figures clearly and concisely. It might be possible that firms find themselves confronted with too much overhead and their volume of business might not justify having a book-keeper permanently. Therefore they could reduce this expense materially by having records of account kept on a part time basis. Such service is rendered at a very nominal cost by the Bookkeeping Service Company, with offices located at Suite 324 Circle Tower, and can be given either on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, depending on your requirements. Bookkeeping Service Company is associated with Burkart & Burkart, efficiency engineers, which makes it convenient for its clients to obtain any possible technical service.

PRACTICAL LAW COURSE IS GIVEN Inexpensive Training for Students Is Provided. There are those who contend that | opportunity is not so great for : young persons as it was a few years ' ago, that the specialization which is ; apparent in most fields of endeavor ; calls for a longer and more expensive course of training than can be afforded by those who would like to enter the professions or arts. The Indiana Law school, 143 East Ohio street, holds open the door to those who desire to study for this learned profession. For thirty-six years it has been conducting an eminently practical school, with prominent attorneys of this city on the faculty of fourteen, and with easy access to the courts and legal proceedings. Its three-year course leads to the degree of bachelor of laws. James A. Rohbach is dean. Sessions of the school are held only in the mornings, and the school term runs from the third Wednesday in September into the following June. The modest tuition is payable in three instalments. Last year 150 persons took ad- ! vantage of the courses. Enrollment j has been gaining steadily for some time. The method of -study and the courses followed are those approved by the association of American law schools, and students are grounded thoroughly in the profession-. The gnat lays about 300 eggs ata time. They are laid on the surface of water, joined together in the form of a little boat by means of a sort of glue which covers each egg.
