College Set Holds Stage for Holidays The city soon will be stormed by the flocks of young persons who come from their various schools for the Christmas holidays. The brief vacation is given over almost wholly to them. Miss Josephine Rockwood and Miss Ann Ayres will make their debuts this week. On Christmas eve their parents, Mr. and Mrs. William M. Rockwood. and Mr. and Mrs Frederic M. Ayres will entertain for them and their young friends with a dance at the Columbia Club. For this dance Coon Sanders’orchestra had been encaged Mr. and Mrs. H*nry R. Danner will have a dance Dec. 29 at the Woodstock Club for Miss Ruth Burford. Miss Helen Danner and Burford Danner. Ted Weems’ orchestra will play for this dance. Dances Are Planned Miss Janet Holliday, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Alex R. Holliday, will hold a tea dance Dec. 22 at the Womens Department Club house. The Corpse Club dance, which is almost traditional in Indianapolis, will bo held Dec. 26 at the Woodstock Club, and the Black and White ball, given by a group of girls - each year during the holidays, will . be held Dec. 27 at Woodstock Club. This year it will be a hard times party. The dramatic club will give a Christmas performance at English’s and supper dance at the Indianapolis Athletic Club Dec. 22. The Tudor Hall Alumnae Association dance has been set for Dec. 23. Brilliant New Year’s Parties A “collegiate hop’’ in honor of the collegians, will be given at the Indianapolis Athletic Club Dec. 23, and will be a dinner and a supper dance. Reservations for the party must be made in advance. Jack Tilson's sophomores will provide the music. On New Year’s eve. the children of the American Revolution will entertain with a tea dance at the Propyiacum. Preceding their party, the junior members ol the organization will be entertained at a Father Time costuming party. The clubs will hold brilliant NewYear's eve celebrations Dec. 31. The Woodstock Club announces its regular club dance. Columbia Club to Hold Affair The Indianapolis Athletic Club will hold a dinner-dance in the dining rooms and dancing in the ballroom. The committee promises unusual decorations and lighting effects. The Columbia Club will hold a New Year’s eve party also in the dining rooms and ballroom. Members of Junior League Will Sell Christmas Seals
Eighteen provisional members of the Junior League under the direction of Mrs. Elias C. Atkins, vicepresident of the organization, will have their first official service in civic affairs when they “man” the Christmas seal sale booths next week to assist the Marion County Tuberculosis Association in the annual drive. Miss Ruth Burford has been elected chairman of the group of provisional members of the league. Booths at which the leaguers will serve are to be open in tiie lobbies of the Fletcher-American National bank and Indiana National bank each day next week, and at the Lyric, Indiana, Circle, Palace and Apollo theaters the league members will offer seals for sale this afternoon and evening and at the same hours next Saturday. Program Will Be Staged for Needy Children A charity benefit program, sponsored by Mrs. Helen Morton, will be given at 8:15 Friday night, at Lowell School 51, Olncy and Roosevelt streets. Proceeds.will go to the needy children in the Brightw-ood community. Girl scouts of the community will provide toys for the children. The program will be given by Jac Broderick, dance instructor and his student review, and Mrs. Lucille Roarke Purcell, piano teacher; Mrs. Morton, who will present her dramatic art pupils, and the Mortonian players in two playlets.
