HOOVER LIKELY TO MAKE FREE * USE OF VETO 'htermined to Keep Relief Expenditures to His Figures. r 1 l nltod Prr*i WASHINGTON, Dec. 10—President Hoover is preparing lor a liberr.l use of the veto power at this refsion of congress, according to his frrnds and advisers. Mr. Hoover is represented as detci mined to keep the unemployment and drought relief expenditures vitliin the figures tie laid down in the budget even if it requires a veto light with the senate and the house. ' The first measure upon which he may employ his power of rejection is the seed and feed loans bill which now carries an appropriation of 560.009.000, or $30,000,000 more than he recommended. A The White House is disturbed at ■pc form in which the measure paged the senate and is exerting its influence to cut the total down to $30,000,000 in the house. The President also wants the human food relief phase of the measure eliminated. Unless this is done, it, is said authoritatively the measure will face a strong executive protest if not a direct veto. The President's political associates say he would welcome a fight with congress on the issue of increased government expenses, and is prepared to face it on this first measure. Many have felt Mr. Hoover has too quiet in his dealings with ‘the legislative branch. They see an opportunity for him to increase his prestige in preparation for 1932 by battling to hold the treasury pursestrings. NAMED POLICE OFFICER Chester L.
