BOY, 10, KILLS FATHER DURING FAMILYBRAWL ‘He Hit Mother, Knocked Her Down,’ Officials Told by Lad. By United Press PHOENIX. Ariz., Dec. s.—'Ten-year-old Estill Wood Jr. was in technical custody today after the slaying of his father, E. R. Wood Sr., during a quarrel with Mrs. Wood. The boy, arraigned in justice court, told in a matter of fact voice bow his father had come home and tarted a quarrel with his mother. “Mother took a rifle and shot iver dads head to frighten him off,” the boy said. “He hit her and knocked her down and she told me to get help. I grabbed the gun and hot dad.’’ Wood with his wife and three children, had lived here for eleven oars, coming from Ashland, Ky., where families of the mother and : at her were said to be socially prominent. Mother Given Estate ANDERSON, Ind., Dec. s.—The will of Harry M. Bartlow, head of the trust department of the Anderson Banking Company, bequeaths the entire estate to his mother, Mrs. Lucy A. Bartlow. Value of the estate has not been ascertained. He died a week ago.

Abie’s Mistake Tells Jewish Judge He Is Mohammedan; Goes to Jail.
By United Press NEW YORK, Dec. 5.—A small Negro, wearing a brilliant green tie and holding a derby in his hand, stepped before the bar in County Judge A. I. Nova’s court. “Your name?” asked the judge. “Abie Cohen.” “Is that your right name?” “Yes.” “What is your religions?” “Jewish,” answered Abie without hesitation. The Judge, himself an Irraelite, looked perplexed. “Well,” he said finally, “there were twelve lost tribes of Israel. Perhaps you’re a stray member of one of them. By the way, are you orthodox?” Abie looked puzzled and finally answered: “I reckon not, Judge. I’m Mohammedan.” Whereafter, Judge Nova accepted Abie’s plea of guilty to a charge of assault and the prisoner was taken back to jail to await sentence.
