Gould Arc Named To his district chairman. Philip Lutz. Spradley probably will report his disappointment and anger at the delay. Selection of Howard L. Rhea of Hendricks county, as gasoline tax bookkeeper and auditor was announced by Floyd E. Williamson, new state auditor, and Fred Pickett, new r supreme and appellate courts clerk, named John Gould of Shelbyville as his chief deputy. Rhea is a graduate of the Stilesvillc high school and Central Business college, Indianapolis, and has served as assessor and township trustee in his home county. Lost t>y T,B Votes He was the Democratic candidate for Hendricks county auditor in the recent election, and although the G. O. P. majority there is normally 2,000, Rhea was defeated by but thirty-eight votes. He is a member of th b Masonic and I. O. O. F. fraternities, is married and has five children. The new deputy clerk. Gould, an attorney, is serving as secretary of the Shelby county Democratic committee and is adjutant of the Legion post at Shelbyville. He was indorsed for the post by James W. Carpenter, Sixth district chairman, and John DePrez, Shelbyville editor. Gould will succeed one of the most popular men in the statehouse, John Cramer.
