FAMOUS MOVIE FOLK NOW IN STAGE PLAY Vilma Banky and Rod La Rocque Will Play Leads Themselves “Cherries Are Ripe,” at English’s. A N erroneous impression has gone abroad regarding the forthcoming appearances in thin r'ty of two famous screen personalities, Miss Vilma Banky and Rod La Rocque, in that they are appearing in connection with a picture instead of on the stage in a stage comedy, “Cherries Are Ripe.” Some people in other cities as well as in Indianapolis haven’t differentiated between a “personal appearance” and a "stage appearance” billing of the show.
The management of the English theater, where these two stars will appear on next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 14 and 15, wishes to correct this impression. „ Primarily the comedy is from the pen of John Emerson and Anita Loos of “Gentlemen Prefer Blonds” fame, and they have written into this, their latest play, the most hilarious lines that have ever come from their pens, and have brought about through their plot many funny situations. Arch Selwyn was responsible for getting these two international personalities to forsake the screen this year and tour America in this play. He presents it in association with Erlanger Productions, Inc., and has given the production a gorgeous setting, and has surrounded the two stars with an excellent cast, including Richie Ling, Gavin Muir, Peggy Allenby, Bert Wittly, Julie Chandler and Juan Varro. Moreover, the play itself gives Miss Banky a marvelous opportunity to wear some of the most gorgeous costumes ever designed and executed by French modistes. Indianapolis theaters today offer: Fred Stone in “Ripples,” at English’s: “Renegades,” at the Apollo; “Africa Speaks,” at the Lyric; “The BANDIT USES RAZOR Negro Woman Menaces Taxi Driver, Obtains $2. Bu Vnitrd Press MILLFIELD, 0., Nov. 7.—State and federal governments took a hand today in the investigation of the explosion in the Sunday Creek Coal Company’s mine No. 6 which took the lives of seventy-nine officials and miners.
