JOBS PROGRAM TO BE FINANCED BY GRID GAME Proceeds From H. S. Match to Be Used in Making Work for Needy. Charity will distribute proceeds irom the Cathedral-Shortridge high school's Thanksgiving day game to Indianapolis’ unemployed through a “made work” program announced today by Chamber of Commerce officials. To meet the Jobs crisis, the commisson for stabilization of employment has adopted a program modeled on a plan that gave work for 2,000 heads of families in Cincinnati last winter. Resources' for the program will be derived principally from the Thanksgiving day game, expected to raise $50,000, from special amounts of regular relief and charitable organizations, and* probably from relief expenditures of the township t rusteer. Co-operation Pledged Co-operation of all public department heads has been pledged in providing work such as windowwashing, repair of streets, snow removal, repair of county roads and minor repairs. Where public budgets do not provide for this additional expense, laborers on these temporary jobs will be paid from the “made work” fund. In addition, it is planned to carry on a "give a job” campaign throughout the winter among householders and private employers. A central and branch employment offices will be established as clearing headquarters for jobs. The commission expects to have upwards of SIOO,OOO worth of jobs created by public departments during the winter. Committee Named G. M. Williams, employment commission chairman, has appointed a eotnmittee of twelve men to formulate the program. Frank D. Stalnaker is chairman of the commission’s finance committee and will have charge of disbursement of all funds. ■- AH proceeds of the Thanksgiving game between Cathedral and Shortridge will go to aid unemployment. Tickets and posters are being donated by city firms and the two teams will not ask for expenses, W. H. Trimble, general of the Indianapolis Thanksgiving game legion, announced today.
