And the best way to remedy unemployment Is for American employers to accept the fiveday week.” Carleton H. Palmer, president oi E. R. Squibb & Sons, today offered thilt solution for the difficulties facing American business men. Three months ago he ordered a five-day week in his own factories and offices. His experiment has worked out so well that production per day has jumped from 80 per cent of the theoretical maximum ot CO per cent. Moreover, every month thus far in 1930, the company has shown a sales increase over th'e same month of 1929. Thus far in October the increase amounts to 9 per cent, the largest monthly increase of the year. “We have adopted the five-day week simply because We feel that it is necessary in this industrial mechanized nation,” said Palmer. “If you don’t practice what you preach the sermon isn’t very valid.” OLIVET COLLEGE MAY BE MOVED TO CITY Nazarene School Trustees Expected to Reach Decision Soon. A scries of dances has been arranged in the hope that freshmen will stop building bonfires which cause timid neighbors to call the fire department.
