CANNON'S ROAR CAUSES 'PANIC' AT COURTHOUSE County Commissioners Still Are Searching for the ‘Culprit.’ Who fired a canno in the courthouse basement tot ay? County commissioners and the building’s custodian sought in vain to answer this question after a general melee that accompanied the cannon blast. Windows rattled, doors shook and scores of frightened employes fled Into the corridors when the usual stillness of the county building was broken abruptly at 11:20 by a deafening concussion. Hundreds Ru-h From Streets Hundreds of persons crowded into the building from the streets. Near panic prevailed when not one of the excited multitude could find injured, dead or dying. County commissioners let it be known that “somebody pulled a mighty serious trick.’’ Powder fumes and smoke filled the basement. Elevators ceased running, and crowds poured up and down all available stairs, some fell, others stumbled but nobody was injured. Sheriff George L. Winkler, Coroner Charles H. Keever, several policemen, janitors, spectators and reporters searched fruitlessly for clews. Keever probably was the most interested prober. Reporter Finds Cannon '"t was not until the general panic had subsided that a reporter found the source. In Keever's basement office, quite easily seen, was a "baby” cannon. It still was hot when touched. "I don’t know a thing about it," Keever, defeated candidate for reriominaticn, insisted. Commissioners still are searching for the “culprit.” Legal Notices LEGAL NOTICE Notice is hereby given lLai, at the annual meeting of the members ot The Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation, held on Sept 25, 1930. the following Trustees were elected: Jesse J.
