Rebel troops from Minas Geraes, central state, and Parana, of the southern rebel group, invaded Sao Paulo, the announcement said. BY C. A. POWELL United Press Staff Correspondent RIO DE JANEIRO. United Press Staff Correspondent SANTA MARIA, RIO GRANDE DO SUL, Brazil, Oct. 13.—The southern state of Rio Grande Do Sul has gone to war confident of victory and has thrown all the resources of a rich and productive region into the battle against the Rio De Janeiro government. As I came northward with the rebel army from Sant’ Ana Do Livramento. Brazilian city on the Uruguayan frontier where the spark of revolt first brake into flame, I witnessed the intense enthusiasm of Ihe Rio Grande revolutionaries. Thousands of men and women gathered at railway stations to cheer the revolutionary soldiers as they rode on troop trains throughout the heart of the revolting territory. Tlie majority of the soldiers on the train wore the typical costume of the southern “gaucho,” the cowboy of the Brazilian range. They carried long knives in their belts and wore flowing red kerchiefs around their necks. Their boots were of raw horse hide. GAS FIRMSJTO BUILD Stations to Be Erected at Airport.
