NEW PAVING IS OPENED ON TWO ROADS Ft. Wayne-Garret Route to ' Be Ready for Use in Short Time. Twenty-nine miles of new pavement were opened on state roads during the week, according to the bulletin of the state highway department today. Maintenance forces this week completed marking Road 1. a paved rou*e between Ft. Wayne and Auburn. and with last concrete poured on U S 27. this highway will be opened between Ft. Wayne and Garrett, in two weeks. Eighteen miles of pavement were opened on Road 7. between Wirt and North Vernon, and eleven miles on RoadJf. between Lowell and Hebron Highway bulletins will be issued cemt-monthly during the winter, because of low detour mileage on the state roads system Highway conditions Rod *— Detour *at. of Road 49 Is two Drive slow over new pavement between Lleonler and Wawaka. Detour from Junction with Road 31 east throueh Scottsburn is one mile. Temporary bridge at two miles east of Madison. Road 67— Short detour 1n Red Key. U. 8. Road 150—One-way traffic over temporary bridge at six miles east of Paoll. Detour from Palmyra to New Albany is twentv-flve miles.

GAS SUIT HEARING SET Arguments Scheduled for Nov. 13 in U. s. Appeals Court. Thursday, Nov. 13, is the date set bv the circuit court of appeals, Chi-cago.-lor oral arguments in the suit to determine whether the city of Indianapolis will take over the Citizens Gas Company under terms of a 1905 contract, attorneys here were informed today. On May 19, Federal Judge Robert C. BaltzeU decided the case in favor of the city. Appellants are Newton Todd and John J. Cotter. Both Frank Haucke (top), the Republican nominee, and Harry Woodring (below), the Democratic nominee, have commanded the Kansas legion. Each is a banker and a bachelor. They declared a truce in their campaign to attend the national legion convention in Boston together.

Muncies White river drainage fight, which has given the city two health officers and caused Mayor George Dale to assail Dr. William F.
