MARRIAGES FOR YEAR SIX TIMES DIVORCE TOTAL Altar Trips Pass Million; Trips to Court Reach 175,000 Mark. Bu Scnpnt-Howard Xetcspaper Alliance WASHINGTON, Sept. 19.—Totals for forty-two states and the District of Columbia indicate that figures for the entire country will show about six times as many marriages as divorces in 1929. The census bureau will publish its official figures of marriages and divorces next month. Totals for the forty-two states and * the district show marriages have reached 1,043,208. This compares with 977,325 in the same states in 1929, an increase of 65,883. Divorces for the same states totaled 167,065 in 1928 and 171,789 in 1929, an increase of 4,724. 175,000 Couples Divorced With Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia still to be heard from, totals for the nation will show approximately 175,000 divorces last year. Os the forty-two states reported on by the census bureau. New York has most marriages, 121,535, but its 5,161 divorces is far from the top. Indiana’s marriages number 43,800; divorces, 8,159 The states whose divorce totals run into five figures are: California, 15,000; Illinois, 15,762; Michigan. 11,985; and Ohio, 15,365. Few in Several States The states whose divorce totals stay in three figures are: Delaware, 174; New Hampshire, 161; New Mexico, 797; North Dakota, 564; Rhode Island, 751; South Dakota, 778; Vermont, 406; and Wyoming, 707. The District of Columbia’s total was 115. Nevada’s Reno brings that state's total of divorces to within 667 of half its total number of marriages, 5,733. Only four of the forty-two states showed decreases in marriage totals for 1930, compared with 1939, but fifteen of these states had fewer divorces in 1930 than in 1929.

WOMAN-HATER TAKES JAB AT SEXJNJEATH Leaves $75,000 for Library With Feminine Books, Workers Banned. Bu United Press LEMARS. la., Sept. 19.—T. M. Zink’s will appeared today to be proof against protest, though it Is one of the most unusual ever drawn. Zink, an attorney himself, apparently left no loophole by which his heirs could contest his will, which provides for establishment of a “womanless” library when his estate of $75,000 has grown, by seventy-five years of drawing interest, to $4,000,000. Zink was a hater of women. At his marriage a few years ago—his second—a stipulation was made in writing that his wife waive all rights to his estate. He left only $5 to a daughter. Zink's library will contain no books written by women, will be decorated and built by men, and will carry over its door an inscription, “Women not admitted.”

BANK BANDITS ESCAPE IN STOLEN AIRPLANE Six Holdup Men Get SIOO,OOO and Flee by Air. • Bv United Press LINCOLN, Neb., Sept. 19— Aviators and groundmen in airports of Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma wr.tched today for a Travelair plane in which six bandits who robbed the Lincoln National bank of SIOO,OOO in casn and securities were believed to have escaped. A penciled line tracing a route on a highway map from Lincoln through Kansas and Oklahoma was found in an automobile abandoned by the robbers.
