SINCLAIR PLANS NEW EMPIRE OF OIL IN GERMANY Hints Sudden Investment of Millions of Dollars to Exploit Fields. £m l nilerl Press BERLIN, Sept. 19.—Harry F. Sinclair, American oil magnate, has decided to enter the German petroleum industry "on a big scale," said today Sinclair has spent ten days investigating the Hanover oil district. He indicated that Germany's oil possibilities are much greater than generally is realized. His ultimate aim is to establish a vertical oil trust in Germany, including producing, refining and distributing units. Big-Scale Production "I expect to enter the HanoverOldenburg oil district soon, prepared to undertake production ori a big scale," Sinclair said. "Exploitation may require the sudden investment of several million dollars. "It is impossible to say how much land we might require, but if necesrary we would purchase 5,000,000 or 10.000,000 acres at the outset Sinclair is much impressed by the possibilities of the German oil fields, he said. "Production in the Hanover area, which embraces 70 per cent of the total German output, is small, but it is increasing rapidly,” he said. "It amounted to 663,000 barrels in 1928, 716.000 barrels in 1929, and it had exceeded 800,000 barrels on Aug 1. 1930. Rapid Progress Made "The German Sinclair Petroleum Corporation which started operating Jan. 1 already is running numerous bulk and service stations in Germany. "Our immediate purpose, if production is undertaken successfully, would be to supply out own refining and distributing agencies in Germany, but it must be remembered that Germany annually consumes more than 400,000.000 gallons of gasoline besides lubricants, fuel, oil, kerosene and Diesel oil, and the market is immense.”

Norris, small town grocer, and Nebraska power interests. Nye admitted that the committee had heard numerous rumors to the effect that the grocer's name, identical with that of the veteran Nebraska senator, had been put forward in the hope of confusing voters and defeating the incumbent. It was understood the committee had gathered evidence which indicated the grocer and an attorney for the utilities had been in frequent communication shortly before the unknown Norris filed a nomination petition which the supreme court later ruled was filed too late, thus automatically eliminating the grocer from the contest.
