TWO KILLED IN WEEK-END AUTO ACCIDENT TOLL Drivers Held by Police for Deaths; Dozen Persons Hurt in Crashes. Two pedestrians dead and more than a down other persons injured was the toll of week-end traffic mishaps in Indianapolis, according to reports of police, sheriff and hospitals today. Several motorists were arrested following accidents. W. M. Rowe, 42, of 1842 North Rural street, today faced manslaughter charges following the death of Leslie La Rue, 72, of 1230 Brookside avenue, struck by Rowe’s' car while crossing the street in front of his home Saturday, Police said Rowe's auto skidded seventy-five feet before striking the man. Funeral services for Mr. La Rue will be held at 10:30 Tuesday morning. with burial following in Crown Hill cemetery. The widow, Mrs. Martha La Rue, survives. Funeral Is Arranged Mri Josie Jackson, 116 West McCarty street, was killed, and her husband, Samuel, 70, was bruised when they were struck by an auto driven by Folk Plott, 52, of 839 South Illinois street, at Church and McCarty streets Saturday night. Plott is charged with manslaughter. Funeral services for Mrs. Jackson will be held Tuesday afternoon. Burial will be in Floral Park cemetery. Police today sought Edward Verity, 543 North East street, to whom they say was issued the license plate on a hit-and-run motorists car. The motorist, according to police, collided with a car operated by F. A. Chapman, 35. of 2024 College avenue, at Ft. Wayne avenue and Delaware street, Sunday night. Threatened by Driver Chapman jumped on the running board as the other car started to pull away, and the driver drew a knife on him, he told police. Others injured: Mrs. Mary Hackett. 48, of 402 West McCarty street, bruises and puts: Michael Hackett. 50. same address, bruises: Miss Julia Hackett. their daughter. bruises: collision. Sunday. STREET WIDENING TO BE LET WEDNESDAY Contract for widening East New York street from Randolph to Tuxedo street, will be let Wednesday by the works board. Six bids for the work have been received, and. it is expected the construction will cost about $75,000. The street will be widened from twenty-seven to forty-five feet. The widening program has been contemplated several years by various city administrations. INSURANCE FIRM SUES TO DROP POLICIES Suit to set aside four life insurance policies totaling SIO,OOO, charging misrepresentation in applica- ! tion, was filed in federal court to- j day by the Equitable Life Assurance j Society, New York, against Ralph j A. CHARITY HEADS STUDY PROBLEMS OF WINTER Preparatory to a study of unemployment and probable winter demands upon Indianapolis charitable agencies, representatives of relief agencies met with city, county and state officials at the Indianapolis Athletic Club at noon today. The conference was sponsored by the Council of Social Agencies, contemplating heavy demands upon relief agencies this coming winter. Representatives of public schools, the Board of Children’s Guardians and the state board of accounts, and township trustees, county councilmen and county commissioners attended the meeting, on call of Fred Hollweg, president of the Council of Social Agencies. By decomposing natural gas at high temperatures and recombining its constituents, products ranging from artificial rubber, anesthetics and motor fuel, to dyes and explosives, are being obtained.

Yeggs and gunmen obtained more than SJ,OOO in a series of robberies in Indianapolis over the week-end, according to reports today to police. Police today continued their search for the bandits who, Saturday night, robbed a grocery store operated by Edwin C. Ott at 1248 Orange street cf SBOO. The bandits entered the store shortly before closing time and then held Ott and Sebastian Heinrich, 726 Grove street, clerk, at bay while they rifled the cash register. They fled in an auto. Forced to open a safe at the point of guns, Max Suess, clerk in a Walgreen Company drug store, 336 West Washington street, turned over S2OO to two bandits Sunday night. Blanchard Evans, 550 West Washington street, who entered the store as the bandits were leaving, was forced into a rear room with Suess.
