While definite arrangements yet are to be made, it is indicated the President seriously is considering a three-weeks trip through Cuba, ' Haiti, Santo Domtngo and Porto Rico. He may go as far as the Panama Canal. The trip would last until the second week in November and he, therefore, would not return to this country until after the congressional elections. WALKER SEES MANY HE HELPED TO FAME Noted Stock Director, After Eight Weeks’ Work in Hollywood, Returns East to Open Season of Repertory. STUART WALKER, who is credited with making more stage and picture stars than any other producer in the country, has just finished an eight-week period of study of making picture production in the Columbia studios in Hollywood. While on the coast he met a number of players, now "names” in motion picture studios, who got their start as members of his dramatic repertory companies in Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Dayton, Huntington, W. Va., and other cities.
Among them were Ben Lyon, star of "Hell’s Angels,” the war epic soon to be released throughout the country; Gavin Gordon, Greta Garbo’s leading man in "Romance;” Basil Rathbone, recently seen opposite Billie Dove in "A Notorious Affair;” Elliott Nugent, now playing in “The Love o’ Lil,” on the Columbia lot: Kay Francis, Paramount featured player; Helen Twelvetrees, Pathe star, and Elizabeth Patterson, Fox contract player. Though he planned originally to merely observe during his Hollywood visit, a few days convinced Walker that he could learn more about the talkies by taking part in their production. It was then he accepted an assignment as dialogue director on “Brothers” and “The Last of the Lone Wolf,” both starring Bert Lytell. Elizabeth Taylor, another Walker

FORMER HOME OF POET TO BE BRANCHJJBRARY Wealthy Donor of Field’s House in Denver Opposed to Use. Bv United Prets PARIS, Sept. 4.—The ghost bf Little Boy Blue is stalking the streets of Denver. And the little toy dog is shaking the dust from his back in vehement protestation. It may even be imagined that the tin soldier, red from suppressed indignation rather than rust, is searching for anew musket. All because of what they are doing with Eugene Field's old home in the western city. Mrs. J. J. Brown, Colorado millionaire, who originally owned the house and recently gave it to her home city, revealed some of the “scandalous” projects being considered in connection with the simple little white frame building. She drew a letter from her desk. “My dear Mrs. Brown,” it read, “the little home of Eugene Field which you have given the city is being adapted to a beautiful branch library ” “You see, we are such utilita-
rians ,*t home,” commented the donor, “that in spite of all our space, all our wealth, we must utilize one of our greatest poet’s homes as a library. “You have seen the house of Victor Hugo, left exactly as it was when he died. You have viewed the homes of Goethe, Schiller—precisely as they were when those great spirits quitted them. “At home the little house of Edgar Allen Poe is intact. In Italy the birthplace of D’Annunzio, recently purchased by the government to be held in its present natural state. “Yet the home of Eugene Field must be made into a branch library.” ROB GROCER, DRUGGIST Two Central Avenue Business House:*; Are Looted.
