MORE THAN 100 MILES OF NEW •ROADSOPENED State Paving Work Finished Ahead of Schedule; Bridges Ready. Opening of several bridges on state highways, and completion of oU treatment on a trunk line between Indianapolis and Chicago were announced in the weekly bulletin of the state highway department today. More t>*n one hundred miles of paving, c impleted six weeks before dates specified in contracts, have been opened in the state. On State road 52. near Andersonville, oil treatment has been finished. and the highway now is open. Anew bridge is in service on U. S. 31. north of Carmel. Other trunk highways, connecting Indianapolis with all sections of the state, with surface conditions, lengths and location of detours and run-arounds for the week of Aug. JO, announced by the department are: Road 7—Closed between Wirt and North Vernon Through traffic detour over state roads. Indianapolis-Madison traffic go via Road 19. Road 9—Detour from eleven miles north of Greenfield to junction with Road 67 is five miles. Bridge run-arounds at two and one-half and three and on-half miles south of Columbia City. Detour between Columbia City and Merriam Is ten miles. Detour from one mile north of Howe to Sturgis. Mich., is five miles. U. S. Road 24—Detour from Five Points to Ohio line is seven miles. Road 29—Drive carefully past grading gangs between Burlington and Mlddlework. Detour Just north of Michigantown will change as work progresses. (Average length of detour is three miles.) Bridge run-arounds at three and one-half, nine and eleven miles south of Logansport. Road 37—Unfinished shoulders between Needmore and Bloomington, and between Sulphur and Paoli, requires careful driving. U. R. Road 40—Ona-wav traffic tn places between Greenfield and Cumberland. Perfect Bridge Hand HARTFORD CITY, Ind„ Aug. 29. —Mrs. Albert Boston Jr. had faith in her husband's ability so she redoubled his bid of five clubs in a bridge game. She did not have a single trump hand and the opponents, Miss Marie Knetht and George Ravaux, had doubled the bid. Her faith was repaid, however, when Boston laid down thirteen clubs, the perfect hand, on the table.
