Cal., a team which was completely overlooked by the seeding committee, needed only one more victory today to win the national junior doubles tennis championship. Doeg. younger brother of the United States Davis cup team player, and Myers eliminated two seeded teams Thursday, defeating Karl Kamrath and Joe Bralley. Austin, Tex., seeded No. 2 in the quarter-finals and beat william Jacobs. Baltimore, and Kendall Cram. Nashville. Tenn., seeded No. 5, In the semi-finals. Boys Also Play The double victory qualified the Californians for a championship match with Wilmer Hines, Columbia, S. C., and Judge Beaver, painesville, Ga. Today’s second championship atch will pit Frank Parker, Milaukee, and George Boynton, Atlanta, against the winner of a semifinal contest between Jay Cohn, Banta Monica. Cal., and Jack Lynch. Taft, Cal., and Jock McLean, Washington, D. C., and F. H. Bartlay. Baltimore, Md„ for the boys’ doubles title. Cohn and Lynch and McLean and Barclay each had a Bet when darkness halted their match Thursday. Cohn Defends Honors Singles competition has reached the semi-final round in both divisions. Today’s pairings in the junior class placed Charles Hunt, Ban Francisco, against Wilmer Hines, Columbia, S. C., and Karl Kamrath, Austin, Tex., against James Bobbitt, Pasadena, Cal. Jay Cohn, Santa Monica, Cal., defending champion, and George Boynton, Atlanta, Ga., are paired In the boys’ singles upper bracket with Frankie Parker, Milwaukee, and Jack Lynch. Mich, Aug. 15. —Kelly’s Kids of Clinton, Ind, are possessed of the old fighting spirit. The Kids from Hoosierdom rallied for four runs in the ninth here Thursday to tie Louisville in the American Legion junior baseball regional tourney and then went on to win in fifteen innings, 7 to 6. State champions from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan are contesting for the regional crown. Brooks hurled the entire distance for Clinton, allowing only six hits. Louisville made one mound change. Both teams were erratic in the field.

That’s That Bv United Press CHICAGO, Aug. 15.—A tradition of fifty years’ standing bars the other National League clubs from winning the pennant this year—either Brooklyn or Chicago having led the league each decade year since 1880. The Cubs won pennants in 1880 and 1910, wtih Brooklyn the victor in 1890, 1900 and 1920.
Three Cincy Stars Enter Three Cincinnati (O.) tennis stars may compete in the annual city senior tennis championships at Hawthorne Club, opening Monday, it was stated today. They are Richard Meyer, runer-up in the Ohio Valley junior tourney; Graf Moeller and William Chambers, Louisville, Ky, and several Hoosier cities also will be represented in the tourney.

Eastern Turf Net Tourney Reaches Semi-Final Round Bill Tilden Quits Match When Crowd Boos Play; Defaults to Sutter.

Y, Aug. 15.—With many seeded stars watching from the grandstand, the eastern turf court tennis championships today moved into the semi-final round in both men’s and women’s singles and doubles. With Bill Tilden's default to Clifford Sutter of New Orleans Thursday, Johnny Van Ryn, Orange, N. J, was elevated to the favorite’s position. Van Ryn, his game at its best, opposed Gregory Mangin of Newark, N. J, in the feature men’s match today. In the other semifinal engagement Clifford Sutter met Berkeley Bell, Austin, Tex. Tilden retired from play in protest against the actions of an unfriendly gallery. Irritated by booing and caustic comment from spectators during his match with young
Sutter, the veteran stoped in the middle of a service, walked to the net and said to his opponent: “I think I’ve had enough of this gallery.
