VOTEINTEREST IS ON ROBINSON IN ARKANSAS Senator Has Opposition for Nomination First Time in 12 Years. fill t ailed Pet** LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Aug. 12. Arkansas voters cast their ballots today for Democratic nominees for state, county and city offices at the close of one of the most spirited campaigns in recent years. Senator Robinson's stand with Governor Alfred E. Smith for modification of the prohibition laws two years ago has been one of the most debated issues. Arkansas is credited with being overwhelmingly dry. In addition to attacking Robinson's “modification” stand in 1923, Campbell charged his opponent had been in Washington “too long" and that he is in the “employ of the power trusts.” “Clean politics” has been a major issue in some of the more important state contests, particularly in the gubernatorial race, where Governor Harvey Parnell is opposed for re-election by Brooks Hays, run-ner-up in 1928, and Judge John O. i Sheffield of Helena.
