19 PIGMY LINKS AID IN STAGING TIMESTOURNEY Qualifying Round to Start Monday in City-Wide Toy Golf Meet. Nineteen toy golf courses arc cooperating thus far, in aiding The Times to stage what probably will be an annual tournament to decide the best man and woman putter pushers in Indianapolis. Courses listed comprise most of those in the city, but any not listed also is eligible to accept entries and have three lowest women and three lowest men represent It in the elimination play, which will get under way with completion of the qualification round. Toy golf, with its adaptability to both sexes and those of all ages, is sweeping not only the United States by storm, but als6 is strengthening its grip rapidly on foreign countries. Reputedly the result of the inventive genius of two former Hoosiers, John H. Ledbetter and Drake De Lancy of Michigan City, the miniature game first gained its foothold in this country at a course they built near Wall street in New York four years ago. Links Spring Up The growth was slow, but once under way, attained the proportions of a forest fire. Links appeared next in Long Beach, Cal., and then in Florida. Within the last few months, they have sprung up almost overnight and patent concessions have been sold in England, Australia, Germany and France. Owners of such motion picture chains as Warner Brothers, Fox Films and Famous Players, it is reported, are considering building the toy links adjacent to their theaters with the object of relieving box-office congestion and holding patrons for attendance at a later show. Only Thursday, the game made its appearance in a Boston court where an owner proved to the judge's satisfaction that the game is not golf proper, despite its points of similarity, and that the high orthodox golf course fee need not be paid by operators. Here Are the Rules for Times Toy Golf Tourney

Following are the rules for The Times city-wide miniature golf tournament:

1. Tournament Is open to any man, woman or child, any age. 2. Any contestant may play his qualifying rounds on any course in the city, playing as many courses and rounds as he likes, with best four rounds of eighteen holes, seventy-two determining entry to elimination round. 3. All qualifying rounds shall start Aug. 4, and be completed on or before Aug. 12. 4. Three women and three men shall re -esent each course in the qualifying round. 5. All qualifiers for the elimination round then shall play thirty-six holes to determine the championship flights of each sex. with eight lowest men and eight lowest women being chosen. 6. Eight women and eight men in each flight then shall be paired by draw for match play and re-paired at end of each round, first two rounds to consist of eighteen holes and final match in each flight of thirty-six holes. 7.
