MODERN CRIME i DEVELOPS NEW ! TYPE^SLEUTHS’ Romantic Detectives Being Replaced by Trained Investigators. BY HILLIER KRIEGHBAUM, Catted Prr Staff Correspondent BT. PAUL, Minn., July 31.—Highly organized crime almost has eliminated the romantic amateur detective and replaced him with a scientific criminal investigator, Gerald Loulsi, New York, president of the World Association of Detectives, said today. Loulsi, a New Yorker, is presiding over the convention of the body here. “Bankers and other groups are hiring trained investigators today Instead of going ahead as amateur detectives themselves as they did fifteen or twenty years ago, hoping by their intuition to find the criminal.’’ Loulsi said. “Now they succeed or fail on the strength of their investigators’ training and experience.” Luisi pointed out that nine times out of ten at least, the criminal investigator suspects the right person as contrasted with fiction stories where the person least suspected generally turns out to be the individual soughs. “If a trained investigator arrives on the scene of the crime at the right time, the criminal can not escape." Luisi explained. The president of the detectives’ organization spoke with a background of twenty years’ experience during which he said he probably had trailed more bank robbers than any other living man. Detective fiction is based, not on true stories, but on certain formulas. Luisi believes. His wife, he said, writes detective series, but to his knowledge she never has used any of his experiences without changing them. This month he told her of ah arrest on a Colorado mountain nearly 10,000 feet high. She used the incident, but he said he hardly recognized it when he read it. Slaying Victim Buried FT. WAYNE, Ind., July 31.—Funeral services were held here Wednesday for Mrs. Eva Wireman, alleged to have been slain by her husband. Bruce Wireman. at Detroit. Relatives who returned the body here brought Richard Miller, 3, son of Mrs. Wireman by a previous marriage. _ Legal Notices crate: Crvsta SWxahrdlu lirdul dlu payaw NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS Notice is hereby given to taxpayers of the Citv of Indianapolis that the Common Council of the City of Indianapolis new haa pending before it.
