ARREST PAIR IN i 2 HOLDUPS AT SAME6ROCERY Woman Identifies Suspect Accused by Police as Store Bandit. Two holdups of a Standard grocery at Tenth street and Warman avenue within eighteen hours were charged against Robert Jester, 27, of 944 Ketchum street, today. Jester, arrested by police squads several hours after the second holdup of the grocery this morning, was identified, police say. by Mrs. Cecil Hicks, 23. wife of the store manager, as the man who held up her husband and her at the muzzle of a revolver Thursday afternoon and took S3O and who return this morning with two companions to hold up the store again and got $lO. Another man, arrested on a vagrncy cha r ge. was identified partially by Mrs. Hicks, police added, as one of the two men who accompanied the bandit this morning on the second holdup of the store. Cecil Hicks, 23. store manager, recognized the bandit when three men passed the tsore at 7 this morning in a taxi. Hicks ran across the street to the Quality meat market, 2722 West Tenth street, to telephone for police aid. Edward Price, butcher at the meat market, ran across the street to the Standard store, but was immediately menaced with revolvers by two of the three bandits who were holding Mrs. Audry Hicks, wife of the store manager, at bay while the third bandit looted the cash register. Mrs. Hicks had been with her husband in the store during the Thursday afternoon holdup. Leaving the store before police could arrive the three re-entered the waiting taxi and ordered James English, driver. 447 Spruce street, to speed away. They alighted at Hanson and Michigan streets and disappeared in an alley. English established the fact he knew nothing of the holdup, the three telling him they were seeking "a drink.”
CITY SALESMAN MISSING: ABANDONED AUTO FOUND State police today were investigating disappearance of Cecil Fletcher, 40, of 4950 North Chester street, traveling salesman, whose car was sou id with a broken window, abandoned, in Danville, 111. Fletcher made a sales trip to Kokomo and ljafayette and was to return to Indianapolis Thursday, Lieutenant Charles Bridges of the state police has been informed.
