July 17. - Harry Ames and Marwood Williams. now serving one-to-three-ycar terms In the state prison at Michigan City after conviction in connection with charges arising from the bombing of the $1,000,000 State theater at Hammond, filed habeas corpus suits in superior court Wednesday. The complaints state the men have been wrongfully imprisoned since April 9. 1929, when the first year of their sentences ended. Ames and Williams are petitioning under the indeterminate sentence law which was held illegal and void by Judge Harry L. Crunipacker of superior court. The cases w ill be heard in October.

NO CONTRACT IS MADE YET FOR NATURAL CAS Pipe Line Company Merely Has Talked to Heads of Citizens Firm. No negotiations have been made whereby natural gas will be distributed through the Citizens Gas Company mains, although the Mis-souri-Kansas Pipe Line Company continues to broadcast announcements that the line will be extended to Indianapolis, C'arence L. Kirk, Citizens company manager, said today. The natural gas company desires to sell its product to the local utility, replacing the artificial manufacturing plants. Kirk expressed the belief that a natural gas line will be built to Indianapolis "some time" in the future, but said no agreement exists between the promoters of the Texas gas line and the local company. Permission of the public service commission would have to be obtained before the natural gas company could set up a competitive utility. It is understood that the present gas mains would be used

Members of the city utilities board, which would have jurisdiction over the Citizens Gas Company, in event the city wins the federal court case involving the title, some time ago discussed the natural gas company plan and decided to refer such matters to Kirk. Kirk said he believes “nothing would prevent the company entering into an agreement with the natural gas concern, in event it was deemed wise and economical.” In case such plan is decided upon, it was indicated that the city board will be consulted because of the probability of the city taking over the utility on final adjudication of pending litigation. MOTOR TRIP SUGGESTED Auto Club Recommends Week-end Tour to Shafer Lake.
