Your Beauty Colors —No. 10Dark, Rich Beauty Aided by Suntan Application

Tones that heighten Joan Crawford s rich, dark beauty are described In the following article, the tenth In* series oa “Your Beauty Colors” written for The Times and NEA Service. BY NINON Written for NEA Service One way to crystallize your beauty is to tone your skin, eyes, hair, clothes into the same subtle scale of colors. If you have brown hair that has a reddish tone to it and tawny eyes, follow the lead of lovely Joan Crawford and sun-tan your skin, either naturally or with make- | up t and see how ravishing it makes you. The exquisite Mrs. Douglas Fairbanks Jr., has a dusky, smoldering richness to her beauty, through old Sol sun and the aid of ochre ) powder. Her tawny eyes are veiled with brown-tinted lashes and their brown beauty enhanced by soft-tinting on the upper lid only. The rouge she uses is a dark, dusky red and her lips are colored only with the darkest lipstick. Doing Things Up Brown She loves all the gamut of browns, | from pale orange to tete de negre, with tans, beiges, rich spicy browns excellent harmonies for her beauty. Greens and blues she wears with great distinction, both contrasting magnificently with her rich pigmentation, her dark make-up. If you are Joan Crawford’s type, experiment with all the clear pene- ! trating blues and greens, not the pastel shades. Try out the scale | of browns from ofl-white to woody hues. Dare pure flaming orange. Chances are you can wear it like a million dollars. Try Gay Yellows Take a flier in bright, gay yellows S with lemon tones in them. You can wear them, too! She wears cats eyes, corals, topaz, ! rubies. She loves chrysanthemums, ; daffodils, yellow-roses with blood ! red streaks touching their petals, and all the brown pansies. She can wear the most exotic perfumes, the rich, pungent, spicy odors. For she has complex beauty —smoldering fire and aloof dreami- ! ness are hers. If you are her type, learn about beauty from her. A wise choice ot 1 colors makes the most of Sue Carol’s young beauty, too. Read about her in the concluding article in this series. FIGHT LOOMS ON GAS PERMIT Board Refuses to Allow Station on Boulevard. Possibility of litigation to test the park board's authority to deny a filling station permit to the Lincoln Oil Refining Company at Lafayette road and Kessler boulevard loomed today with the board’s unanimous refusal to sanction the invasion of business on the pleasure boulevard. The board contended establishing a station on Kessler would be opening up the boulevard for business and result in other business enterprises on a boulevard designed for strictly residential usage. Frank C. Daily, safety board member and attorney for the oil company, contended that the park board had designed the property for business use several years ago. ELECTED BY REALTORS Three City Men Honored at Session of National Association. Three Indianapolis men were named to offices in the National Association of Real Estate Boards, according to word received here from the annual convention in Toronto. William Low Rice was re-elected vice-president of the national association, representing Indiana. Frank L. Moore, executive secretary of the Indiana board, was named to the membership on the board of governors. Donald E. Rider, executive secretary of the Indianapolis board, became a member of the executive committee of the secretaries’ division of the organization. CHEWING GUM NOT FOOD Interstate Group Rules on Rate Petition of Makers. Bu United Press WASHINGTON, July 11.—The Interstate commerce commission has decided that chewing gum is not food. It dismissed today a complaint of the National Association of Chewing Gum Manufacturers, which attempted to establish this theory as a basis for its contention that sood rates should apply to chewing gum | shipments. Chewing gum rates, the I association contended, are unreason- ; able, unjust and discriminatory. BAD CHECK? HA! HA! I Bu United Press , HARTFORD CITY, Ind., July 11. 1 —Every alleged fraudulent check which Blackford county officials show to Vernon Ginter brings forth another burst of laughter from Ginter as he reclines on a bed in jail here. He is held in connection with the purchase of a used car from a Jonesboro garage man with Ia supposedly fraudulent check. A checkup of Ginter’s activities reveal a trail of bad checks passed in Muncie, Marion, South Bend, Hartford City and several Ohio towns, police say. Ginter, it is said, would become acquainted with prominent persons in town and then use their names on checks. He has been arrested three times previously on similar i charges, it is said. Boy in Auto Killed Bu Times ftnectal . _ , .. _ . _ KOKOMO, Ind., July 11.—Fred R. Irelan, 15, was killed Thursday night when an automobile driven by his father, L. C. Ireland, turned over at a bridge east of here. He died on the way to a hospital. The father was injured.
