FLIER TO MAP REGION RAZEG BY RIGMETEOR Territory of 10,000 Square Miles Laid Waste in Siberia. Si/ VnHcd Pre* MOSCOW, June 27.—Boris Chukhnovsky, famous Russian aviator, soon will photograph from the air the 10,000 square miles of Turukham territory in Siberia which was devastated in 1908 by one of the world’s largest meteors. The area presents hundreds of miles of dead, charred trees, earth jagged and torn. Scientists, who hope to locate the center of the meter*, say had it struck London, Pari or any of the thickly populated cities of the world, all life for miles around would have been destroyed. The region was discovered by Professor Kulik, Russian scientist, after word had come slowly from the tribes in the isolated Siberian section, that the “God of Thunder” had ; truck. Chukhnovsky participated in the rescue of General Nobile and the crow of the airship “Italia” when it crashed in the ice wastes of Spitzbergen in 1928.
