Bv T'nitr<t Prrm CINCINNATI, June 26.—The Brotherhood of Railway Clerks National bank, one of the largest labor banks in the country, closed its doors today, a victim of the alleged speculations of A. W. Shafer, former $75-a-week employe of Henry L. Doherty Si Cos., dealers in Cities Service's stock. trie bank was the second drawn Into the maw of Shafer's alleged manipulations which were said to have resulted in losses of more than $1,500,000. The first, the Cosmopolitan Bank and Trust Company, a private institution with 15,000 depositors, closed its door three weeks ago. Though capitalized at only $400,000, the bank, according to a financial statement issued June 14, haul assets of $5,849,010 and deposits of $4,816,270. The closing order was a protective measure for depositors. United States District Attorney Haveth E. Mau said in a statement to the newspapers. Mau expressed confidence the bank clerk's obligations would be paid in full. Shafer is under indictment on charges of embezzling $210,000. His operations were said to have resulted in a total loss of more than $1,500,000. PARENTS ORDERED TO PAY FOR SUPPORT Those Who Have Finances Must Contribute to Feeble Minded Home Parents who have the finances must pay the support charge of children at the Indiana School for Feeble Minded Youth. This ruling was given Superintendent C. A. McGonagle of the Ft. Wayne institution today by Attor-ney-General James M. Ogden. McGonagle asked the ruling on a specific case of a girl sent to the school from Madison county and whose parents refused to pay. The county is not authorized to make payment in such cases the attorneygeneral’s ruling sets out.
