32 PLANES TAKE OFF ON ANNUAL STATEAIR TOUR Columbus First City to Be Visited Among 17 in Itinerary. Thirty-two planes took off from Hoosier airport at 9:30 this morning on the second annual state tour of the Indiana Aircraft Trades Association, with seventeen cities included In the itinerary. Lieutenant Walter E. Peck, commander of Schoen Field, Ft. Benjamin Harrison, led the planes as they left for Columbus, the first scop. During the day, the planes were to v&it Madison and will reach Evansville during the afternoon. At Evansville, the tourists will be guests at oedication of the new Evansville airport. An army blimp will b a feature of the celebration. Spending the night in Evansville, the air caravan will visit Princeton, Greencastle and Terre Haute, Tuesday. Wednesday’s calls will include Lafayette, Michigan City and Gary, while on Thursday the tour will include Plymouth, South Bend and Ft. Wayne. Returning to Indianapolis the fliers will stop at Huntington, Kokomo and Muncie, Friday. “Foundation and Indianapolis” will be the subject of an address by Eugene C. Foster, director of the Indianapolis Foundation, at the weekly luncheon of the Rotary Club at the Claypcol Tuesday.

LEVINSON RITES ARE SCHEDULED Private Service Tuesday for Business Man. Friends, business associates and acquaintances of Harry Levinson, 63, who died Saturday night, may view the body at Flanner & Buchanan mortuary this afternoon and tonight. Funeral services will be held privately at the home of a brother, Frank K. Levinson, 3314 Carrollton avenue, Tuesday morning. Burial will be at Noblesvillle after completion of a mausoleum there. Mr. Levinson, founder and head of the chain of hat stores bearing his name, died at Methodist hospital. He had retired from active business about a year and a half ago. He was taken to the hospital after having been stricken by apoplexy at Washington park on June 5. An ardent baseball fan throughout his lifetime, Mr. Levinson w r as on hand to watch the Indians play. He was a member of Elks lodge, Masonic order and the Columbia Club. Survivors are the widow, two sons, Frank K. Levinson, Indianapolis, and Norman D. Levinson, New York; a brother, Salmon O. Levinson, Chicago, father of the Kellogg peace pact idea, and a sister, Mrs. Daisy Harrison, Los Angeles. MAP G. O. P, DRIVE Chiefs Discuss Campaign in Washington Meeting. Plans for the coming campaign were discussed today in Washington by Elza O. Rogers, G. O. P. state chairman, and Harry Fenton, secretary, at a conference with members of the Indiana congressional and senatorial delegations. Rogers will stay in Washington a few days in order to go into detail on the method of combatting tariff offensive to be waged by the Democrats. ARREST WOMAN IN DELIVERY OF TWOIFRQM JAIL Miss Zelma Ross Is Held; Sheriff Overpowered, Locked in Cell. Members of an Indianapolis gang were sought today by police as parI ticipants in a daring jail delivery at Rising Sun, Ind., Sunday night in which four men overpowered the sheriff and released Jack Terrell, 25, and Ralph Moore, 25, both of Indianapolis. Miss Zelma Ross, 30, of the Barton hotel, believed to be the “red-haired woman,” who aided in the Jail delivery, was arrested at Lawrenceburg, Ind., but four men companions ran through the train she had boarded with them and escaped. Terrel and Moore were arrested two weeks ago in connection with a gun battle between rum runners and hijackers at Cross Plains, Ripley county. They were armed when arrested the following morning in vicinity of the battle. They were charged with illegal possession of fire arms. Four men and a woman drove into Rising Sun Sunday night. The woman remained in the automobile while the men obtained permission of Sheriff Leon Neal to see the two prisoners. When he walked into the cellroom with the four they produced guns and forced him into a cell, taking his keys from him. Mrs. Neal entered the jail and was forced into the cell with her husband, the four unlocking doors and freeing Terrel and Moore. They drove away in a large black sedan. The four boarded the train at Lawrenceburg and officers attempted to capture them, but the men fled through the train which started at the moment. The woman refused information as to her companions. 300 GRADUATED FROM BUTLER Exercises Open With ‘Cap and Gown’ Walk. Three hundred members of the 1930 class of Butler university received their degrees this morning in the fieldhouse at the seventy-fifth annual commencement. Robert J. Aley, president of the university, conferred the degrees. The exercises opened at 9:30 with the traditional “cap-and-gown” walk from Arthur Jordan Memorial hall through the wooded campus to the fieldhouse. Dr. W. A. Shullenberger, pastor of the Central Christian ehurch, opened the exercises with an invocation. Seven members of the senior class who spoke were: Josephine O'Neill, Logansport; George Gisher, Edward Raffensperger, Margaret Walker, Jonas Collins and Charles Sharp, all of Indianapolis, and Rufus Hurt, Roanoke, Va. Benediction was pronounced by Dr. F. W. Burnham, pastor of the Capitol avenue ‘Christian church. Evan Walker, president of the class, introduced the speakers. Baccalaureate services were held Sunday at the Butler gymnasium. Dr. G. I. Hoover, professor of practical theology in the college of religion, in the main address commended modern achievements. Following the services members of the graduating class were given a farewell picnic dinner.

BATHING POOLS OPEN Dedicate Garfield Tank at Sunday Exercises. Municipal swimming pools were opened to the public today following formal dedication of the new Garfield pool Sunday. Children who attended the season’s last day of school Friday were on hand at the city’s five pools this morning to open the recreational season. CAPTURE SUSPECT IN BANK FUNDS THEFT Cops Work Fast as Messenger Is Slugged and Robbed. By United Press PITTSBURGH, June 16.—Two hours after a bank messenger was robbed of $2,300 in Mt. Washington, a suburb, today, one suspect had been captured, a second was believed to have escaped a cordon of police which surrounded a whole block, and a man the robbers kidnaped was being detained for questioning. Developments piled up with the rapidity of a movie thriller after a robber shoved a pistol at John C. Stauff, South Hills Trust Company messenger, grabbed the money and leaped into an automobile in which an accomplice waited. FAMOUS INVENTOR DIES Father of Gyroscope, Called Rival o> Edison, Succumbs. Bu United Press NEW YORK, June 16.—Elmer Ambrose Sperry, 70, inventor of the gyroscope and other devices used in modern history, died today in St. John s hospital, Brooklyn. He had beer depressed by the death of his wife in Savannah. Ris friends credit him with more inventions than Thomas A. Edison.

He is married and lives at 3729 Kenwood avenue. 50-YEARCITY RESIDENT DIES Funeral of Daniel D. Brosnan Set for Tuesday. Funeral services for Daniel D. Brosnan, 72, who died suddenly at his home, 1471 North Delaware street, Sunday, will be held Tuesday morning at the home and at the SS. Peter and Paul cathedral at 9 a. m. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery. The Rt. Rev. Joseph Chartrand, bishop of the Indianapolis diocese, will preach the sermon while the Rev. Elmer Ritter will conduct the mass. Mr. Brosnan died a few minutes after eating dinner. He was born in Ireland and came to Indianapolis fifty years ago. For years Mr. Brosnan conducted the Brosnan Cloak and Suit Company. Latei he had realty offices in the City Trust building. Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Mpy Duggan Brosnan; two sons, Francis Brcsnan and Kervin Brosnan, a member of the 1930 graduating class at Indiana university; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Freaney and Mrs. Walter J. Stuhldreher; two sisters. Mrs. Margaret Kelly and Mrs. -J. P. O’Mahony; the brother, John D., and a half brother, P. D. Lane, all of Indianapolis.

DES MOINES GROWS lowa’s Capital Shows Gain of 16,000 Over 1920. By United Press WASHINGTON, June 16.—Des Moines, la., led cities filing preliminary population figures with the census bureau today, reporting a count of 142,469, an increase of 16.001 over 1920. Returns from Shreveport, La., gave further evidence or the growth of southern cities. Shreveport gained 32,875 residents during the decade, reporting a population of 76,659. El Dorado, Ark., increased its population four times ever, growing from a village of 3,887 in 1920 to a town of 16,420. The South American executive with his son and members of the official party boarded this forenoon the yacht of Roy W. Howard—the Jamaroy—for a cruise up the river to West Point.
