STATE HIGHWAY DETOURS ARE IN GOODMITION Roads Placed in Share to Meet Heavy Demands of Tour Season. New detours, installed as construction progressed, and many miles of newly oiled road featured the report cf the state highway department in the weekly bulletin issued today. Beth detours and state and county reads were reported in good condition to handle the summer traffic by Director John J. Brown of the department. General road conditions were lirted as follows: Road I—Narrow sharp turns between Ertejvllle and Metamora. Detour from Connersville north is four and one-half mi ;es. Road 3 -Loose stone three miles north of Oreensburg. Detour five miles north of Bluflton is seven miles. Detour four mi'es south of Ft. Wayne is four and onehf If miles. Road 7—Closed between Wirt and North Vernon. Through traffic detour over state roads. Indianapolls-Madison traffic go via Road 39. Road 9 —Detour from Greenfield to Junction with Road 67 is fifteen miles. Detour between Columbia City and Merrlam is ten miles. Detour south of Columbia City for heavy traffid is five and onehalf miles. Light traffic use run-around. Detour from Junction of Roads 9 and 6 north of Albion to Rome City is five miles. Detour north of Wolcottville is five miles. Road 11—Run-around 3'/a miles east of Richmond. Road 14—Bridge run-around fourteen tniles west of Winamac. Road 15—Detour from Warsaw to three miles south of Leesburg Is five miles. Detour from Wabash to three miles north of Urbana is eleven miles. Road 26—Bridge ruu-around 4’/a miles east of Lafavette. Road 28—One-way traffic one mile west Os 0. Road 29—Bridge Run-arounds one-half mile south and one mile north of Michigantown. Drive carefully over two temporary bridges eleven and forteen miles south of Logansport. Detour from Winamac to eight miles north is thirteen wiles. United States Road 30—Run-around at Erie railroad crossing two miles east of Schererville. U. S. Road 31—Bridge run-around north es Carmel, over railroad tracks; should be driven carefully. Detour south of Kokomo Is expected to be removed by June 14. Road 32—Drlvo slow Just west of Noblesville. Road 33—Detour from Sellersburg to New Albany is nine miles over pavement. Road 34—Parts of road closed during the day between Waynetown and Crawfordsville. Road 36—Detour from Junction of 36 and 63 to Dana Is ten miles. Road 37—Unfinished shoulders between Needmore and Bloomington, and between Sulphur and Paoli. necessitates careful driving. Road 39—Detour north of Frankfort changes as work progresses. U. S. Road 40—Dustless detour from oneouarter mile west of Bridgeport to paved 36 into Indianapolis is two and one-half miles. Road 44—Detour from Rushvllle to four and one-half miles west of Connersville is twelve and one-half miles. Road 46—Run-around three and one-halt miles east of Columbus. Detour nine miles west of Greensburg Is four and one-half miles. U. S. Road 52—Bridge run-around near Julietta. Road 67—Detour from three miles north of Lyons to Junction of 51 and 67 is six miles. Detour from three and one-half miles south of Worthington to one mile north is six miles. Short detour in Red Key. DUKE UNIVERSITY TO OPEN NEW COLLEGE Old Plant Will Be Occupied Next Fall by Women’s School. Bu United Press DURHAM, N. C., June 13.—Duke university will add anew college for women to the educational assets of North Carolina next fall. The college will open Sept. 24, using the plant now occupied by the university which will move to its newer unit of buildings on an adjoining 5,100-acre campus. The present plant consists of a score of buildings, most of them erected in the last five years on a 120-acre campus. ANGLER LANDS TURTLE Loggerhead Weighing 150 Pounds Caught With Rod, Reel. Bu United Press CRACOKE, N. C., June 13. Ernest Dever, New Brunswick, N. J., landed a loggerhead turtle, weighing about 150 pounds, in a fishing craft here.
