United Pert * NEW YORK, June 10.—The Brooklyn Robins, having gained a three-game lead in the National League pennant race, today hoped to increase their advantage at the expense of the last place Cincinnati Reds. All of the National League teams shifted opponents today, the second place Cubs moving to Philadelphia; &t. Louis invading Boston, and * Pittsburgh opening a four-game series with the New York Giants. All National League clubs were Idle Monday, because of rain and wet grounds. The Philadelphia Athletics increased their American League lead to three games Monday, defeating v Chicago, 3 to 2, while Washington was losing to Cleveland, and hoped to better their position by winning the finale of the four-game series with the Sox today. Walter Miller, who was knocked from the box in his three previous starts, turned in his first victory of the year, to give Cleveland a 5-to-4 triumph over Washington. 300 Young Stars Try to Qualify Thirty-Two Low Scorers to Start Play for Title Thursday. BY DICK MILLER With the course in perfect condition, a bright sun overhead and only a mild cross wind sweeping the course, the first of the army of qualifiers in the fifth annual Indianapolis Times interscholastic golf tournament marched onto the Riverside municipal links today at noon in quest of the title of city schoolboy golf champion. The young nvashie wielders will continue to play qualifying rounds until dark tonight. The second group will qualify Wednesday. So large was the advance entry approximately 300 in number, that it was -found necessary to spread the qualifying time over two days. The deadline for the eighteen-hole qualifying round will be at darkness Wednes-. day night. Low medalist will receive the gold medal annually awarded by the Indianapolis Times, and inscribed with his name and score. Harry Schopp, chairman of the awards committee, told for the first time of the beautiful cup to go to the winner, a 14-inch trophy, awarded by the Kay Jewelry Company. The thirty-two boys with the lowest scores in the qualifying play will be placed in a championship bracket for match play, to begin Thursday morning. The next thirty-two will be placed in the Riverside consolation flight. They, too, will start Thursday morning. The matches in the championship and consolation flight will all be eighteen holes, except the final match of the championship flight Saturday, which will be thirty-six holes.

Buckner Enters Local Negro Race July 4
Bill Buckner, local Negro race driver, is throwing away his cane to enter the seventh annual Gold and Glory sweepstakes, which is the Negro auto race held each year at the fairground, July 4. Bill got into a spill last October and came out of it with a broken shoulder, broken ribs and broken leg. He hobbled to the Indianapolis Colored Racing Association office Monday and said he would be o. k. to drive anew model A Ford. G. N. T. Gray, manager of the race, will have entries from Chicago, Pittsburgh, Detroit, St. Louis, besides several local drivers.
