DIES OF HURTS SUFFERED WHEN CAR HITS WAGON John Wente, 50, Succumbs to Fractured Skull After Mishap. John Wente, 50. of 2231 Parker avenue, died at city hospital Wednesday night of injuries suffered' Wednesday afternoon when his wagon was struck at East and Washington streets by an automobile truck driven by Fred Sikel, 22, of 2024 English avenue. Following the accident, Wente walked to the city ambulance and declared he was not injured. At city hospital it w-as found his skull was fractured and he had suffered internal injuries. William H. Jerden, 64, of 825 Bouth Pennsylvania street, was injured while pushing a pushcart at McCarty and East streets Wednesday afternoon when a taxicab, colliding with an automobile, overturned onto the pushcart. The taxi was driven by Edward Kinder, 22, of 818 Foltz street, and the automobile by Robert E. Brunson, 24. of 1433 East Market street. Clifton Pyles, 6, of 1101 Concord street, was injured slightly when struck late Wednesday in front of his home by an automobile driven by Ray Morgan, 575 Traub avenue. SOLDIER IS ACCUSED IN NAVAL CLERK SLAYING Formal Charge of Murder Is Filed in Killing of Mary Baker. Bu I iiitrrl [‘rrx* WASHINGTON. June 5.—A private soldier, Howard L. Brewster, was lodged in the Arlington (Va.) county jail across the Potomac from here today, formally charged with the brutal slaying two months ago of Miss Mary Baker, navy department clerk. Brewster confessed the crime early In May, but later requdiated his confession and some doubt was held as to his sanity. Since then he has been examined by army alienists who declared him sane. Miss Baker was shot to death one night nearly two months ago. Her mutilated body was found in a culvert, ia the Arlington Memorial cemetery.

THE Indiana Roof ballroom will ignore its summer policy which calls for dancing only on Saturday. Sunday, Wednesday and Friday nights, when it opens tonignt for the first preliminary of the Indianapolis Beauty and Fashion Revue.
