CITY TEACHER, ACTIVE IN CIVIC CIRCLES, DEAD Funeral of Mrs. Blanche Edwards Will Be Held on Friday. Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Blanche Beneda Edwards. 29. of 342 West Twenty-sixth street, teacher at School 26. the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stewart, are to be held Friday at 130 at Bethel A. M. E. church. Funeral sermon Is to be preached by the Rev. R. L. Pope, pastor of Bethel church. Other eulogies are to be given by the Rev. M. W. Clair pastor of Simpson M. E. church: the Rev. D. F. White, pastor of Witherspoon Presbyterian church, and Miss Margaret Smith, president of the Gamma Rho sorority. Mrs. Edwards, who resided with her parents, died Monday morning at city hospital, following a brief illness. Active in Civic Circles ' Mrs. Edwards was a popular member in civic, .educational and religious circles of the city and was national secretary of the Gamma Rho sorority. She was president of the Postal Alliance auxiliary, branch of the National Postal Alliance, of which her husband, William Homer Edwards, is a member. She also was a member of the Daughters of Isis. Sl'.e was born here in 1900 and was a graduate of grade school and Shortrldge high school. She studied at Indiana and Northwestern universities and at Western Reserve in Cleveland. Survivors are the husband and the Barents. Burial will be at Crown hill in charge of C. M. C. Willis and Son. Tonight closes the Members' Circle exhibit at Fhvllis Wheatley branch V. M. C. A. The circle, now numbering four departments of citv-wide interest, in needlecraft, antiques, lamp shades, painted articles. Pillows. Guilts, etc., is being directed by Mrs. Beulah Hayes, secretary of the educational and membership departments of the association. Work Done by Hand All work is done by hand and represents a phase of artistic arrangement that lends an exotic atmosphere to the large and richly colored display. Many circle members are employed away from home during the day and meet only in bi-monthly session. Pinal program and exhibition of the circles will be held in Jordan Music hall at the “V” tonight. Mrs. E. D. Moten is president of the membership department, while “active work of the circles is sponsored by Mrs. Gertrude Vaughn and Mrs. Jessie Settles. Presidents of the circles are Mesdames Rebecca Stitts. Henry Phillips. Emma Green and Myrtle Ezzell. Funeral of Mrs. Eva P. Fisher. 49, of 841 Roach street, will be held Wednesday at Mt. Paran Baptist church. Mrs. Page died Saturday at her home following a long lllr.fss. She was an active member of Mt. Paran church. Survivors arc the husband, Monroe Fisher; a daughter. Mrs. Blanche Walker: a sister, Mrs. Allie Taylor, and a brother. Robert Page. Burial is to be in Crown Hill. Mass Meeting Slated A citizens’ mass meeting is to be held Thursday night at Trinity hall. Paul Robeson's epochal triumph in the Shakespearean role of Othello, in London, is featured in cabl’d dispatches, one of which states that it was "Robeson Day” in London. The leading dailies published reviews of the Robesons biography simultaneously with cordial reviews of his new stage success. TWO SEWER CONTRACTS AWARDED BY BOARD Irvington and Pogue’s Run Projects to Cost Total of SI 13,000. Contracts on two sewer projects totaling $113,000 were awarded today by the city sanitary board. Wiliiamson-Thompson Company, Peoria. 111., submitted low bid of $102,895 on the Irvington relief sewer and American Construction Company, Indianapolis, low bid of $10,089 on the draining of the Pogue's Run channel. United States Pipe and Foundry Company was awarded a $10,559 contract for sewer tile. The Broad Ripple main interceptor sewer contract probably will be awarded Thursday.
