HICKMAN WANT to feel all comfortable, nice and moonlighty—kinda sort of date night feelin’ ? Then, boy, date up your sweetie and take her right over to see "High Society Blues.” And the reason and you will agree with me is that Janet Gayncyr and Charles Farrell do all the lovey dovey work while their respective parents raise ail kinds of noise and trouble. You know that one of the most successful formulas for a play, whether movie or stage, is to have a bunch of domestic quarrels well scattered through the whoie play.

Look at "Abie's Irish Rose” on the stage not the movie and when “Abie” is studied, just one family fight afternoon. The fighting dads in "High Society Blues” are William Collier Sr., land that man knows how to act and talk) as Horace Divine and Lucien Littlefield as Eli Granger. The Grangers become newly rich because the Divine millions buy the Granger grocery stores. Pa Granger and Ma Granger played by Louise Fazenda, are just Main street folk and when they move into a sort of a Newport mansion opposite the Devines, poor Ma Devine could see no reason why she should not bake a pie and take it right to the "front door of the Devine estate. And it was this snubbing of the pie by the grand Mrs. Divine that put Pa Granger on his high horse and when he got through with the Divines they were ready to est humble pie out of the hands of Pa and Ma Granger. Hurry up and tell us about Janet and Charles. Well, I will but it was necessary to tell you about the pie first. Janet Gaynor is the human daughter of the haughty Divines. And such a sweet girl is Eleanor Divine. She just couldn’t help falling in love with Eddie Granger, playtd by Charles Farrell.
