G.O.P. PLANS TO HURRY ON VOTE $600,000,000 Measure Is Expected to Go Through Next Week. BL PAUL R. MALLON rnitd Ptm* Staff Corrrspondfnt WASHINGTON, May 30—Republican leaders observed a holiday today after making plans to push the $500,000,000 Smoot-Hawley tariff measure through the senate next veek. Democrats privately admitted they had gained no advantage by the latest change which has restored almost all of the existing revising power of the President and the tariff commission through the flexible provision. Without enough votes to overthrow the Republican bill. Democratic leaders say they, nevertheless, will fight at least a week before permitting the measure to pass over their objections. A final senate vote is expected a week from Saturday. The week of debate will be devoted to placing campaign arguments in the congressional rceord for use when the tariff conflict is transferred from congress to the political stump in the congressional primaries and elections. Already legislators have their eyes on lowa where the tariff issue may play a substantial part in the senatorial primary voting Monday. According to reports reaching here the two Republicans fighting for the senatorial nomination have been debating the tariff issue. Rep-
