TRIO OF RACES WILL FEATURE G. 0. P. SESSION Contest for High Court, Treasurer, School Job in Prospect. bY BEN STERN WtTh preliminary arrangements completed for the Republican state convention, June 5, party leaders are watching three contests that will feature this year's session. Judge Benjamin Willoughby, Vincennes, has two opponents for nomination to the supreme court bench; Roy P. Wisehart. Union City, has one announced opponent for nomination as superintendent of public instruction: and three candidates are out for the nomination for state treasurer, succeeding Mrs. Grace Banta Urbahns Reynolds, who is retiring. Another contest looms for the appellate court post held by Judge Charles R. Remy, Indianapolis. Two possible candidates are Alex Cavins, deputy United States district attorney and Schuyler Haas. Seventh district chairman, long a wheelhorse of the Coffin organization. T. Morton McDonald < Prince .on, aspirant for Willoughby’s place, accompanied by Stuart Fisher, also of Princeton, and former First district chairman, visited the statehouse this week in an effort to obtain support. Meanwhile, friends of Thomas B. Coulter, Knox circuit judge are making state-wide appeals for their man. Harry Nichols, Madison, Fourth district chairman, candidate two years ago for the nomination for treasurer, is conceded the best chance. Caleb Williams, Anderson, Madison county recorder, and Sol Sudranski, Greencastle, retired businessmen, are dividing the field. There is a marked feeling that if Miss Mary Sleeth, Rushville, state vice-chairman becomes a candidate for treasurer, she will make a strong race. So far. Morgan L. Sterrett, Rensselaer, superintendent of the Jasper county schools, is the only opponent to Wisehart.
Fifield Unopposed Otto G. Fifield, Gary, is almost certain to be renominated, as no candidate has entered the lists in opposition. No opposition has developed sos Archie Bobbitt, English, who will bs renominated auditor. Charles L. Biederwolf, Ft. Wayne, also is unopposed as nominee for supreme court clerk. Nothing has occurred to mar the even current of the plans to again name Willard B. Gemmill, Marion, to the supreme court. Platform plans are being scrutinized sharply by Elza O. Lebanon, state chairman who conferred this week with Governor Harry G. Leslie regarding conditions throughout the state. Heniy Marshall. Lafayette publisher; George W. Stout, editorial writer, and John J. Brown, state highway director, and close counsellor of the Governor, were present at the conference. Meet at 7:30 According to arrangements, delegates to the state convention will meet at 7:30 p. m., Wednesday, June 4, at the statehouse. in district caucuses, and select one member from each district for the committee on resolutions; one each for the committee on rules and permanent organization; one each for a committee on credentials, and on convention vice-president. The committee on rules and permanent organization will meet in Room 921, Severln, at 9 p. m. Wednesday; credentials committee Room 901. and the resolutions committee, in Room 1224, at the same time. A strong, healthy body and mind always respond to the occasion. Employers ap- . preeiate and recognize unfailing freshness—always ready—cheerfully ready to carry on—minus that “tired feeling.” rrntilW
DON’T let a weakened body hold you back. Prolonged, it may result in so-called premature old age. Today’s happiness and friends may be gone tomorrow. Has it ever been made clear to you that a strong, healthy body depends upon the right number of rich, red-blood-cells? Thousands of people have a low blood count—to this may be attributed skin troubles, “rundown” systems and even more serious ailments. Healthy blood should contain about 5,000.000 red corpuscles to every cubic millimeter—those tiny workers which give blood its color and are carriers of nourishment to every part of the body. Rich, red blood is
the body’s protector against infection and disease. It is dangerous to let the blood count remain below normal. If you tire easily—lack pep-—if your skin is not clear—if your appetite is “gone”—you owe it to yourself and to try S.S.S.
