MRS. JUDAH IS HEART VICTIM; ILL JOR YEAR Pioneer City Woman Active in Social Work and Author of Book. Mrs. Mary Jameson Judah. 7£, wife of John M. Judah, died of heart disease at the family home, 3138 North Meridian street, at 5 this morning, after illness of a year. The daughter of Dr. Patrick Henry Jameson and Mrs. Maria Butler Jameson, and granddaughter of Ovid Butler, she was born in Indianapolis and educated here and at Vassar college. She married Mr. Judah in 1872 and the family resided at Memphis, Tenn., from 1837 to 1895, where she was prominent in social service activities. Was Social Worker Returning here Mrs. Judah took a leading part in many club and civic movements, including co-operation with Oscar McCulloch in organization of the movement for nurses training in the city and organization of the Newsboys’ Club, which developed into the Boys’ Club. Mrs. Judah was a member oi the Colonial Dames, Indianapolis Woman's Club, Art Association, the Propylaeum Association, the Contemporary Progressive Club, the Dramatic Club and the Woodstock Club, and formerly was a member of the Christian church, in recent years being affiliated with the Church of Christ, Scientist. Author of Book She was well known in literary circles and wa.-. author of a volume of short stories, "Down Our Way.” She was a friend and adviser of Booth Tarkington, Meredith Nicholson, James Whitcomb’ Riley and other literary leaders. Mrs. Judah is survived by her husband, John M. Judah; two sons, Henry Judah Brandon of Hempstead, L. I„ and John Judah Brandon of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, a great-grandchild and a sister, Mrs. Orville Peckham of Indianapolis. Burial will be in the family lot at Crown Hill cemetery, with services to be announced later. The sons assumed the name of a grandfather Brandon in inheriting an estate some years ago.
