In all countries by United Press; all rights reserved* LONDON, May 21.—Results of the London naval conference coi. stituted the greatest step ever taken In the general evolution of disarmament, A. V. Alexander, first lord of the admiralty, said in an interview with the United Press. Alexander stressed three points in particular: 1. Whereas the Washington treaty resulted in a race for large cruisers to offset the loss of power due to the scrapping of battleships, the London conference, by limiting all combatant categories of ships for the three greatest naval powers, eliminated naval competition between them. 2. The limitation figures actually agreed to in London were very much lower than those which Britain unsuccessfully proposed at Geneva in 1927. 3. Even though Franco-Italian agreement was not reached at the London conference, both powers were able to discuss the possibility of an agreement, which is more than was accomplished at Geneva in 1927 when not even the participation of France or Italy was secured. Speedy Tropical Ghost Has Own Light System By Science Service t MANILA, P. 1., May 21,—The natives who inhabit Illoios Notre, the most northern province of the Island of Luzon, live in mortal terror of a ghost, seen at night in a marsh which borders the ri<* fields. This particular ghost, according to reports, carries a light of some sort and travels at great speed. No Filipirio will venture near the spot. An American government teacher, an athletic young fellow, failing to induce any native to accompany him, went one night alone into the marsh. After a short time the light appeared in the form of a ball of fire which hung low over the ground and moved away as he followed it. This game led the determined young man farther into the rice field, and into deeper mud and wafer. Finally, after many such attempts to solve the mystery, he decided to run it down. After a long zigzag chase, requiring all the speed he could attain under such conditions, he caught up with a badly winded wild dog, its snout covered with the phosphorescent mud rooted up from the marsh.
