CITY'S NEGRO FIRMS TO DIVE COUNTY FAIR Industrial Products Will Be on Display at ‘Y’ Auditorium. Annual county fair and industrial exhibit of products of Negro firms is to be held in the auditorium of the Y. M. C. A. for the entire week of June 2. The exhibit is sponsored by the local Negrc Business League, a branch of the national body founded iby the late Booker T. Washington. The exposition will consist of miniature booths showing actual operations of local Negro enterprises, kcme of which are operated on an Smematlonal scale. An attractive program will be provided each night by the Y. M. C. A. Several thousand citizens witness the fair activities each year and receive free samples of products of local firms. Home-Coming Scheduled* A Jollification and home-coming sponsored by the local branch of the N. A. A. C. P. is scheduled Friday night at the Phyllis Wheatley Y. W. C. A. Attorney R. L. Bailey is president of the local branch. The Jollification also will be the first mass meeting of the association since the close of the Moorefleld Storey-Louis Marshall membership drive, which netted more than 600 members. Mrs. Daisy Lampkin, regional director of the N. A. A. C. p.. left Friday for her home in Pittsburgh, where she will plan drives in Baltimore and Washington. Paul Robeson, America's premier Negro actor and spiritual singer, who has been In Europe for some time, starred as the Moor in Shakespeare's ‘'Othello,'' at a London theater, Monday night, according to press notices received here. It was the first time the role ever has been played by a Negro. Robeson’s work Jn ‘'Show Boat” has gained him a tremendous London following.
