FOOD FLAVORS ARE PRESERVED BY USE OF ICE Keeping Proper Moisture Is Necessary to Retain Vitamin Content. This is the time cf year when the proper preservation of foods and food products becomes a vital question for each individual as well as for those who have under their care and supervision the safest method of refrigeration. Through a study of the proper method of preserving food it is becoming more and more generally recognized by the thinking and discerning public that ice is far superior to other kinds of refrigeration, according to the Artificial Ice and Cold Storage Company. It not only keeps foods from being contaminated, but affords that degree of moisture absolutely essential to palatability, the proper vitamin content of the various foods being maintained only when the proper amount of moisture is kept. Flavor Is Preserved Anything that will keep the food supply wholesomely cold and provide the means of preserving its flavor and healthfulness is a good investment. With this point in view, the Artificial Ice and Cold Storage Company, in co-operation with other ice companies, is endeavoring, through the Ice Research Bureau, to acquaint the public with the wholesomeness of ice as a refrigerant and establish the proper relation between refrigeration and food products. Operates Coal Business The Artificial Ice and Cold Storage Company has increased its delivery system and equipment to a point where it is in a position to give prompt and efficient service on short notice, and maintains a number of service stations in the outlying districts for the benefit of its | many patrons. A phone call to Li. 6443 will bring ice service that will be appreciated. The Artificial Ice and Cold Storage Company also owns and operates the Commercial Fuel Company, dispensing coal and coke of the very best grades at the lowest prices possible consistent with the quality of the fuel they sell. Summer prices now are prevailing and tins can be filled now at appreciable savings.

ELECTRIC CLOCKS MOST DEPENDABLE

Telechron Gives Accurate Measure of Time for Modern HomeSi Modern business, with its twentieth century speed and action, demands accuracy and dependability of time. Modern science has perfected a springless electric clock, in which a tiny electric motor replaces springs and escapements, thereby eliminating all winding, regulating, oiling and cleaning. It simply plugs into an electric outlet and assures observatory time with an accuracy and dependability which ordinary clocks can not even approach. This time-piece is known as the Telechron, and presents the first marked improvement in clock making in more tAan two hundred

Control of the Crystal Springs Water Company was acquired recently by the Ostermeyer Paper Company, 148 Virginia avenue, distributors of “Burt” drinking cups and other paper products in Indianapolis for the last ten years. The excellent service they have been giving in the past is to be extended to the Crystal Springs Water Company also. Water from the famous Crystal Springs has many advantages and is known everywhere for its purity. Pure water is one of the greatest aids to health supplied by nature. In addition to being served from a convenient Frigidaire water cooler, it is cooled to just the right temperature always, never too warm,

never too cold. It is economical, also, for it saves time, prevents interruption of regular work and increases the efficiency of employes. This service can be obtained for a surprisingly low rental; in fact, at a cost hardly more than daily carfare. Also there are several types of Frigidaire water coolers available. One of these has a compartment for cooling bottled beverages or preserving serums and medicines. They also may be obtained in various colors to harmonize with surroundings. Models best suited to individual requirements may be selected at the new showrooms of the Crystal Springs Water Company, 146 Virginia avenue, or a phone call, Lin 2731 will bring more detailed information. CASH DISCOUNT GIVEN ON COAL New Policy Is Adopted by Retail Club Dealers. Policy of allowing a discount for cash on delivery has been adopted by Indianapolis coal dealers who are members of the Retail Goal Club, Inc., club officials have announced. Under the new policy a reduction of 25 cents a ton is made where householders pay the driver when the coal is delivered. The reduction does not apply to apartment houses or to what is known to tha coal trade as “steam business.” Credit for thirty days, of course, will be extended, as in the past, tc those whose credit rating justifies it, officials said, but in this case the discount does not apply. The coal club decided on the new policy after a survey revealed extension of credit costs a very definite amount, which must be added to the selling price. The discount policy passes on to the cash purchaser the saving made when the dealer does not have to open up and carry an account. The Retail Coal Club, Inc., was organized three years ago to unify service given the public by member dealers and to assure delivery cf the exact kind of coal ordered and paid for by the customer. There are sixty-five dealer members, each an established fuel dealer with years of experience in handling quality coal. All are joined together for the purpose of placing the coal business on a satisfactory basis both for coal users and coal dealers. It always is wise to order coal as early as possible, thus obtaining better service as well as lower prices. Price increases of 3 per cent a month on coal are assured for the rest of the year, it was said. Coal users may obtain the .name of the Ret ail Coal Club member in their neighborhoods by calling RL 4669.

USED CARS ARE GUARANTEED BY HARE COMPANY Autos Traded In Are Given Thorough Overhauling in Firm’s Shops. “Used cars with an O. K. that munis.” Thousands of people read this slogan day in and day out and yet but a small majority are aware of its real value in the purchase of a used car.

Too many dealers, because of their lack of equipment or mechanical inefficiency and with the thought of a quick turnover, always uppermost in their minds, have, in many instances, unloaded upon the unthinking buyer used cars that do not begin to prove up to his expectations. But such is not the case with the Hare Chevrolet Company, 552 East Washington street. It is their belief that the buyer of a used car is entitled to satisfactory service, and they do not hesitate to give it. Gone Over Thoroughly Every used car they offer has been gone over thoroughly. Expert mechanics have put it in guaranteed mechanical condition. The fenders and body have been given attention when needed: the top closely inspected and all defects remedied. In fact, before a used car is placed on the floors of any one of the stations of the Hare Chevrolet Company, it must be in such mechanical and general condition that it will measure up to the regular Hare high standard of used car value. There are four Hare used car stations in Indianapolis, advantageously located in different sections of the city, 921 Virginia avenue, Morris and Harding streets, Washington street and Southeastern avenue, and 552 East Washington street, where a car may be selected with assurance that it will give months and miles of satisfactory service; truly, “With an O. K. that counts.” 24-Hour Service The Hare Chevrolet Companv operates a twenty-four-hour repair service at their garage, 552 East Washington street, making it possible for automobile and truck owners to have their repairs made during the night thus eliminatinr the unpleasantries and disadvantages of having their cars or trucks laid up during the day. Their service department is fully equipped to care for any repair or servicing need or to furnish any needed part for Chevrolet cars or trucks. None but the most dependable and experienced men are engaged. The Hare Company also operates a fully equipped paint shop in connection with its other departments, and will be pleased to take care of any work car owners may have to do in that line. Their work is guaranteed and their prices within reason. PERMIT TOTAL GAINS H. L. Simons to Build New Home Costing $50,000.
