Miss Barnes Sets June 7 for Wedding Invitations have been issued by Alfred A. Barnes, 3505 Washington'boulevard, for the marriage of his daughter, Miss Evelyn Barnes, to Jeremiah Lawrence Cadick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Denby E. Cadick, Grandview* The wedding will take place Saturday, June 7, at high noon in the McKee chapel of the Tabernacle Presbyterian church. A reception at the Barnes home will follow. Miss Ruth Cadick, sister of the bridegroom, will be maid of honor. Bridesmaids will be Mrs. John James Cooper and Mrs. William H. Macomber, Kendallville. Denby E. Cadick Jr. will be his brother’s best man. Ushers will be Paul Martin, William H. Wemmer, William J. Kothe and Paul Trent, Chicago. Parties to Be Held A number of parties have been planned to honor Miss Barnes. Mr. and Mrs. John James Cooper will entertain with a dinner party Friday night in honor of Miss Barnes and her fiance, and Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Remshardt, Heilbronn, Germany. Mr. Kothe and Mr. Wemmer will give a dinner party next Saturday night. Mrs. Macomber will have a luncheon bridge at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Elder Adams, 4145 Washington boulevard, Tuesday afternoon. May 27. That evening Miss Carolyn Richardson will entertain with a bridge party. Date to Be Set Later Friday, May 30, Miss Marea Haueisen will entertain with a supper in honor of Miss Barnes and Mr. Cadick. The next day Mrs. William Kern and Miss Hope Pfafflin will have a luncheon at the Woodstock club. That night Mr. and Mrs. William Jungclaus will entertain at dinner. Mrs. Henry C. Thornton, will have a luncheon bridge June 3. June 4, there will be a stag dinner for Mr. Cadick at the Columbia Club. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Trent. Chicago, and Miss Helen Trent, will entertain with a dinner June 5. Mrs. Rudolph K. Haerle and Miss Helen Shepard will entertain for Miss Barnes, the date to be set later. Miss Barnes was graduated from Tudor hall £nd Vassar college and is a member of the Junior League of Indianapolis. Mr. Cadick was graduated from Indiana university and Yale law school. He is a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.
Girl Scout News
The Girl Scout photography class has Invited the Girl Scout troops, their leaders, parents and friends to attend their closing day celebration which is to be held in the L. S. Ayres’ auditorium, Saturday, May 24, from 2 to 5. The program for this event will consist of an exhibit of the best work each Girl Scout has done, from 2 to 3:15. After this there will be several talks given by prominent speakers In photography work. Mrs. E. Blake Francis, commissioner, will give the opening greeting, “What Is Photography—a New Interpretation,” by Hilary Bailey; “Studying Nature Through the Medium of a Camera, ’ by Brandt Steele; “Our Attitude Toward Photography," by Dr. J. F. Bailey. The program will close with the announcement of awards i\nd prizes for the following work: Illustrative photography, indoor portraiture, nature studies and still-life studies. Blue cards are due not later than Wednesday. The next court of awards will be held June 6, at the Irvington Methodist church, Audu- ; bon circle, at 7. This will be the J last court until fall. Troop 33 is going to entertain the girls who sold the most cookies in their troop with a costume party. Troop 28 entertained their parents Friday with a Father-Mother-Daughter banquet at the Broadway M. E. church. The Girl Scouts made ; up the program. Camp folders may be obtained at the Girl Scout headquarters any time now. Leaders are asked to get the folders for their troop since they are not going to be mailed this year to the girls. New candidates reported during the last week are Ethel Mae Osborne. Patricia Flick, Mary Frances Milholland, Fay Van Arendo.V. Naomi Williams.: Troop 1: Betty Jane Ramsey. Marcella Johnston, Mary Florence Hunt, Troop 17, and Alberta Speece. Trop 37. Patrol 1 of Troop 22 sold the most cookies. The girls of this patrol are to be honor guests on a hike which has been planned by the other girls. Mary Louise Merrill is the patrol leader. The Girl Scout edition called “The Girl Scout Salute" is now ready at the office. Leaders are asked to come in for them. This issue is the camp number. Mrs. William Edwards, examiner . for the hostess merit badge has been .working with Troop 28 for the last two meetings. Quite a few' girls are passing this merit badge. A motheis’ tea is going to be given this week by the girls of Troop 21. Mrs. I. Jones is the captain of this troop. The girls that have been invested during the past week are: Margaret Pierce and Helen Waters, Troop 32. Troops 43. 30, 23 and 24 are all taking hikes jut to Camp Dellwood this week-end. Girls are passing a great deal of their work for this .next court of awards. Troop 1 is going to have a banquet for the fathers and mothers of the girls Monday, June 2, at the Irvington Presbyterian church, ; Johnson and Julian avenues, at 6:30. The Girl Scouts are giving the Girl Scout litany. Miss AdamIson, local director, will talk on ;camp. Song groups will make up ;the program. There will be a meeting of the citizen troop June 13 and 14 at Camp Dellwood. All girls that will .enter high school in the fall are invited to come. Details for this affair will be given later. Sesame Club in Party Marking 30th Birthday Thirtieth anniversary of the Sesame Club was celebrated with a party today at the home of Mrs Bert J. Westover. 55 South Audubon road. Special guests were former members. Among those who attended were: Mrs. E. W. Prilliman, Shelbyville; Miss Margaret E. Carroll, Cleveland a charter member; Miss Helena M Patterson, another chapter member, at whose home the club was organized; Mrs. Elizabeth Bradford also a charter member, and Mrs. James P. Darnall, the only charter member who retains active membership in the club. The house was decorated with spring flowers. The tea table was centered w'ith pink and w'hite flowers, the club colors. Miss Harder Will Marry Henry Goett The announcement of the engagement of Miss Helen Katherine Harder to Henry O. Goett was made Friday night at a party at the home of Mrs. R. E. Brann, 54 Ridge View drive. Mr. Goett Is the son of Mrs. Christine Goett, 1216 South East street. The wedding will take place June 28. The house was decorated with spring flowers. Three white bells, one of which contained the announcement, were suspended from the archway of the living room. They were tied with pink tulle bows, and streamers of smilax. The serving table was centered with a low bowl of spring flowers and lighted by tall pink tapers. Appointments carried out pink and blue the bridal color scheme. Camp Fire Girls
First aid course is being conducted by Mrs. Clyde Osborne of the Red Cross for Camp Fire Girls who are working for their firemakers’ rank. First class was held Tuesday, May 13, in the Camp Fire office, and the following girls were present: Eleanor Jane Fullenwider, Jeanette Armitage, Betty Lou Ingermann, Betty Jane Beem, Evelyn Sutherlin, Mary Lenguell, Evelyn Conley, Helen Senges, Mildred Gauker, Lois Stratman, Flossie Mae Nolan, Anna Marie Pressed, Miriam Staley, Jean Fonda, Bobby Weise, Marian Barnes, Edna Taggart, Violet Stanger, Helen Malloy, Doris Stanger, Mildred Taggart, Katherine Connoh, Florence Klotsche, Beatrice Wade, Betty Leerkamp, Bernice Ellis, Margaret Heagy, Roberta Everett and Jane Ann Greenlee. The next class will be held at 3:30 Tuesday in the social hall of the Y. W. C. A. The east side hike was held last Saturday. The girls met at East Tenth street and Arlington avenue at 10 o’clock and hiked about a mile east. The girls cooked their dinner. Reports on the camp conference were given. The hike was under the leadership of Miss Margaret Marshall. Mothers and and daughters banquet will be given by the Guardians’ Association, June 12 at the First Baptist church. Committee of awards will be held next Saturday, at the social hall of the Y. W. C. A. This will be the last Court of Awards until next fall. Tayuada group of School 7, under the leadership of Miss Mary Marshall, discussed the camp conference at their last meeting. Witawentin group, under the leadership of Miss Ethelmae Miller, met at the home of the guardian Friday. Reports of the girls’ camp conference were given by Mary Ellen Shelburne and Betty Hobbs. The girls made plans for a bunco party to have been held Friday. School 35 group held its regular meeting at the school Thursday. The report on the girls’ conference was given by Georgiana Amt. Miss Ethelmae Miller met with the girls at School 80 and Mrs. Franklin White, guardian, Monday. The girls held a short business meeting and worked on symbols for their headbands. Kataya group of School 49, Miss Pauline Mohler, guardian, held their meeting last Thursday at 3:15. The girls are selling candy to add to their treasury. Cakenscho group of School 62 met Monday afternoon. Blanche Reed and Virginia Moffit gave book reports. Instead of holding their weekly meeting the girls of the Wawasai group, School 54, entertained their mothers. The party was held at the home of Mrs. Carl Anderson, 616 North Oakland avenue. In the center of the serving table was a tepee with Indian characters and a miniature forest. At each end was a replica of the Hunter’s fire. BANQUET WILL BE HELD AT PARISH Daughters and mothers banquet of the Girls’ Friendly Societ *. Chrirt church branch, will be held in the parish house Tuesday.
