STARK, COLLINS FEUD RENEWAL SEEN_M MOVE Prosecutor Takes Charge of Grand Jury Vote Theft Accusation Probe. Wedged between fires of anew chapter in the fight for grand jury control between Prosecutor Judson L. Stark and Criminal Judge James A. Collins, the Marion county grand HJury oday continued a probe into alleged primary corruption, hearing testimony of six witnesses. With Stark in full charge of the probe and present in the chamber as witnesses are questioned, the jury was launched into the fifth session of the probe today. Witnesses included R. J. Dearborn, 4100 Otterbein street; E. H. Borchers, 1325 Lawrence street; Robert Shearer, 4175 Shelby street; James Hobart, Negro, 603 West Thirteenth street, and Henry Frazier, Negro, of Fourteenth and West streets. Resignation Demanded
Possibility that additional funds may be asked of the county to continue the probe was seen Thursday after County Auditor Harry Dunn appeared before the jury more than half an hour. He was not a witness in the corruption investigation, it is known. Stark, who has provided a major part of the evidence pointing toward alleged irregularities in the primary, will assist Vinson H. Manifold, grand jury deputy prosecutor, who until today was in full charge. Collins and Stark were thrown Into a bitter feud two months ago w'hen Collins demanded resignation of Manifold as jury deputy prosecutor. Changing of locks on the grand jury door at that time by orders of Collins was construed as an attempt to forbid Manifold entrance wdthin the chambers. Resumed Full Charge Stark declined to acknowledge ♦he order, and Manifold resumed lull charge of the jury after a short time. Immediately Collins named John Willis, criminal court investigator and friend of long standing, as “grand Jury Investigator,” directing W illis to occupy a desk in the grand jury waiting room. Willis held this position for several weeks, but received no pay. Twelve witnesses already have been heard, including Democratic election officials of the Second precinct of the Tenth ward, and numerous other persons claiming to have knowledge of election irregularity.
