8 FLIERS, LOST I ON SEUAVED Rescue of Aviators in Pacific Reported. By United Prett HONOLULU, T. H.. May 15.—Rescue of eight distressed aviators, including four army fliers who were compelled to make a forced landing on the sea late Wednesday in a bombing plane, and four fliers aboard an army amphibian plane, was reported in a radiogram from the tug Pelican today. The four members of the bombing i plane crew were transported to the j interisland steamer Haw r aii early to- j day, while Lieutenant U. G. Jones and Lieutenant W. Meyers were picked up in their amphibian, adrift fifty miles from the scene of the search. The bombing plane was forced into the sea between the islands of Maui and Hawaii on account of bad weather and darkness late Wednesday. A search was started immediately and in the search an army amphibian drifted away on a tide running at six miles an hour. The search for the amphibian ended early Wednesday afternoon.
