NAMES PERSONS BEHIND BALLOT ON PROHIBITION Publisher Resents Charges by Anti-Saloon League of Wet Motives. BY FOSTER EATON t'Dllfi) Pr- _ otatf Correipondtnt ATLANTA, Ga.. May 9.—Much of the mystery surrounding the national prohibition survey, a $7,000,000 project to poll 32,000,000 Americans on the success or failure of prohibition, was dispelled today by Thomas Edward Kennedy, acting executive director, in an exclusive interview with the United Press. Receipt of confidential information from Washington that officials of the Anti-Saloon League of America planned to ‘‘expose” him Saturday, he said, prompted him to divulge his true identity and to make public the personal recommendations which induced the survey to retain Lewis K. Moore Jr. as its financial director. Heretofore, Kennedy has been known here only as “Edward Kennedy.” Nothing of his origin, his financial backing, has been given out. Asa result, motives of the survey have been under suspicion for weeks. Dr. C. O. Jones, superintendent of the Anti-Saloon League of Georgia, has branded the organization publicly as “wet.” To dispel that impression and to anticipate an expected attack from Washington, Kennedy said today he is Thomas Edward Kennedy, former president of American Publishers Corporation, publishers of “Chicago.” Dealing with the forthcoming 1933 world’s fair at Chicago. Associated with him in publication of “Chicago,” he said, is Rush Butler Jr., son of the senior member of the Chicago and Washington legal firm of Butler, Lamb, Foster & Pope, and Edward F. Ham, millionaire publisher of “Traffic World,” Chicago. KILLER FINALLY SLAIN • Lone Wolf of Montana Meets End When He Loses Wariness.
