TROOPS PATROL TUNIS TO GUARD CHURCH PARLEY Arabs Organize Moslem Demonstration When Catholics Convene. BY STEWART BROWN I mt*u Pres* Staff CorreApondent CARWAGE, Tunis, May 8 Black Senegalese troops patrolled the streets of Tunis today to insure tranquillity for the thirtieth International Eucharistic congress. Simultaneously with opening the congress here with high masses Arab visitors to the city organized a Moslem demonstration in the native quarter of Tunis, a few miles away. Authorities do not anticipate any trouble, and expect the Arabs to confine their activities to a religious fete. The Senegalese, neither Christian nor Moslem, were ordered to patrol the city. Buenos Aires virtually'was agreed upon today for the site of the 1034 Eucharistic congress. Dublin previously was selected for the 1932 congress. With the ceremonies opening the International Roman Catholic gathering completed, the 20.000 pilgrims from every land sat among the ruins or on the grassy slopes of ancient Carthage and prepared to hear, through the most modern loudspeaker equipment, four days of ceremonials and speeches on religious subjects. Some 500 American pilgrims are here. The martyrs who died for the Christian cause in the lion arena at Rome were honored at the first open air meeting this afternoon. Thousands of children crusaders sang hymns and marched solemnly past the martyrs’ tombs, laying palms before them.
