AIR FORCE FOR LEAGUE TALKED AT CONFERENCE German Opposition Fails to Win Consideration at Geneva Session. BV HENRY WOOD Lnitcd Prc Staff forrMßnndcnt GENEVA. April 30.—The longdiscussed project for a league of rations air force was a step nearer realization today. Tire league's commission of arbitration and security considered the proposal Monday and despite German opposition insisted it was Imperative that the league lay foundations now for the eventful possession of the fullest and freest communications. The league considers an aerial force imperative for a quick convocation of its council. Germany objected on the following grounds: No Means of Control 1. Progress in aviation is so rapid, the league's air fleet might be obsolete before the occasion arose to utilize it. 2. Countries which peace treaties deprived of military aviation forces would have no means to control the flight of the league's planes over their territory. 3. It might be difficult to obtain permission to fly over states not members of the league. 4. An air force would involve great responsibility for the league as well as the risk of provoking incidents involving various countries. Ownership Essential The German thesis fai’ed to secure the slightest support. The commission’s members insisted the league must have fast communications and that the league must own the means for these fast communications. . Germany suggested if a quick meeting were necessary, commercial air lines could be used as readily as an air force owned and operated by the league. The commissioners, however, considered ownership of their own lines essential for maintaining communications with frontier points and governments where war threatened or was in progress. “People told my mother how pood Lydia E. Finkham’s Vegetable Compound was for young girls, so I took it. I used to feel miserable at certain times but now I feel 100% better and have gained a little in weight too. I am only nineteen years old. I do not work but of course I help mother with the housework. We are both much pleased with the results from the Vegetable Compound and we recommend it to other girls who need it.” — Bernice M. FINDS FARM IS NO NIGHT CLUB Hostess Unable to Stand Quiet of Retirement. Bu United Press LONDON, April 30.~Mrs. Kate Meyrick, England’s best known night club hostess, found a chicken farm no worthy substitute for her famous “Forty-three” Club and its aristocratic patrons. Mrs. Meyrick recently completed a sentence for attempting to bribe a police sergeant for protection, and came out of Holloway jail with the alleged declaration she would retire to a chicken farm for contemplation. She disappeared for awhile, but as the Forty-three’s patrons were leaving the club early Monday morning, they were surprised to find her “holding court” at her accustomed spot, the cash register. Mrs. Meyrick, smartly dressed in a gray plush coat with fur collar and cuffs, greeted her guests with her old enthusiasm, but said nothing about the chicken farm. Two of her daughters have married British peers they met at the club. n Veteran, 83, Dies pv Times Rpccial NEWCASTLE, Ind., April 30.—Funeral services were held here Monday for George Albright, 83, Civil war veteran, who was with Sherman on the famous “march to the sea.”
