FRESH COFFEE NECESSARY FOR PROPERFLAVOR Arabs Were Among First to Recognize Its Virtues as Tasty Drink. Virtues of coffee as a drink first were made known in Arabia. The Arabs are proverbially hospitable and the symbol of their hospitality, for a thousand years, has been the great drink of democ-racy-coffee. The principal feature of an Arab house is the coffee room. Ker# several rounds of coffee, without milk or sugar, but sometimes flavored with cardamom seeds, are served to the guests at the first welcome, and coffee may be obtained at all hours, between meals or whenever the occasion demands. Always the beans are freshly roasted, pounded and boiled. The Arabs average twenty-five to thirty cups (findjans) a day. The Arab drinks water before taking coffee but never after. They do not wish to spoil the delicious flavor by washing it away. Even as far back as 1300 A. D., authentic records can be found to prove the statement that in order to produce a truly delicious cup of coffee, one with all its true flavor and aroma, freshly roasted coffee must be used. Indianapolis coffee lovers are fortunate in that they can secure Hoosier Club coffee at any independent grocery- This coffee is blended and roasted fresh daily and delivered in special seal-packed cans. Grocers receive a fresh stock weekly.
PURE WATER IS AIDTOHEALTH Distillation Is Safe Way to Eliminate Germs. Important as is the external bath in promoting cleanliness and healthy action of the skin, it has much less influence on health than the daily bathing of the blood and tissues of the body through drinking pure water, according to officials of the Aquos Products Company, 1128 East Tenth street. Very often there Is present In water, even though it be clean and sparkling, organic matter rendering it unfit for drinking, in fact injurious to health, carrying dangerous germs and bacteria. In order to eliminate this foreign matter and make water fit for drinking purposes, many methods of purification have been tried, but distillation, properly performed, has been found the only method by which water satisfactorily can be freed from all impurities, it is claimed. The Aquos Products Company has been producing, for a number of years, a distilled water that is completely purified and free from organic and mineral matter and all bacteria. A bottle of this safe distilled water may be ordered for delivery to home or office by calling Cherry 5753. SUNLAMP PROVIDES HEALTHY TAN COAT
Artificial Rays Rival Those of Nature’s Own. Office workers and others whose indoor tasks keep them from the enjoyment and benefits of sunshine, have an opportunity to obtain that bronzed tan-glow so expressive of health, despite their Indoor work. The General Electric Sunlamp, a new type of lamp providing the same range of radiations as the sun itself, will afford them the chance to bask in the relaxing, healthful and vitalizing rays of the Sunlamp, rivalling those of nature’s own, in their own homes. The Sunlamp even has an advantage over the sun, in that it is available at any time. A flick of the finger and a storehouse of radiant energy is there. Only the same care need be exercised in using the General Electric Sunlamp as with actual sunshine. This new type of sunlamp is made expressly for home use and is the most modem device of its kind. It was produced by General Electric engineers and research workers after many years of experimentation. The sunlamp bulb utilizes what is designated as the mercury vapor tungsten arc principle and can be replaced as easily as a house light bulb. The lamp is quite inexpensive to operate. Demonstrations of the General Electric Sunlamp may be obtained at leading stores and electrical shops throughout the city. EXCAVATIONS REVEAL STONE AGE SECRETS Trade Between India, Philippines 2,000 Years Ago Discovered. By Science Service PHILADELPHIA, April 26. ’Trade relations between India and the Philippine islands more than two thousands years ago, and a prehistory stretching back to the close of the old stone age, have been revealed by recent excavations on the island of Luzon. So Professor R. B. Dixon of Harvard university informed the American Philosophical Society, which is closing its annual meeting here today. This vast backward extension of Philippine history has been due practically altogether to the work of one man, Professor H. Otley Beyer, head of the department of anthropology at the University of the Philippines, Dixon said. Beyer made his first discovery of prehistoric relics in an excavation for a dam, and since then has found and explored nearly a hundred sites. Since no government funds were made available for the work, Professor Beyer has been carrying it on at his own expense, and has labored to such good pin-pose ftiat he now has a collection of scores of thousands of specimens.
