•PARENTS' DAY' TO BE OBSERVED BY PUPILS Krw York Schools Move to Extend ‘Mothers’ Day’ Significance. fiv Tnnrs Snrrinl NEW YORK. April 23—The hoard of education of the city of New York has directed that May 10 be observed as “Parents’ day’’ in all New York city schools in accordance with the movement to give the second Sunday in May a deeper significance than Mothers’ day makes possible. Dr. S. Parkes Cadman also has romp out in favor of this change as have such other national leaders as Mrs. Hermann M. Bigg" president of the National Federation of Day Nurseries: William Hodson, executive director of the Welfare Council of New York City, and Mrs. S. A. Teller of the Irene Kaufman Settlement in Pittsburgh. George J. Hecht, publisher of the Parents’ Magazine, who is advocating the idea of changing Mothers’ day to Parents’ day, reports that many other cities and towns also have decided to give the day a truer and wider meaning by directing the attention of children to the part that both parents have in their upbringing and care.
f “Mythirteen-year-olddaugh-ter Maxine was troubled with backache and pain when she came into womanhood. I knew Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vegetable Compound would help her because I used to take it myself at her age. Now she does not have to stay home from school and her color is good, she eats well and does not complain of being tired. We are recommending the Vegetable Compound to other school girls who need it> You may publish this letter.” —Mrs. Floyd ButK. ■ 1 GARDEN TOOLS Hoes, Rakes. Trowels, Spades, Shovels Pruning Shears.
