TRACTION LINE GIVES DEALERS FASTSERVICE I Rail Telephones Placed at Disposal of Dealers for Rush Orders. Free telephone service enabling out-of-town merchants to telephone orders to Indianapolis supply houses at no cost, recently inaugurated by the Indianapolis <fe Southeastern Lines, Is proving popular with merchants In the outlying towns. The company has placed its private telephone lines at disposal of these merchants, permitting quick communication and delivery of orders from Indianapolis wholesale houses. Those affected by this free service, which is available at all towns along the company’s lines, which operate out of Indianapolis to Rushville and Connersville, and Shelbyville and Greensburg, have expressed great satisfaction with the service. Order Is Transmitted In using the service, It is necessary only for the merchant to phone the company’s local express or freight agent, giving him the order. The agent then transmits the order over the company’s private telephone line to the town from which the order is to come. In Indianapolis the company has employed a clerk at the junction, Southeastern avenue and Prospect street, whose duty it is to receive and record the orders and telephone them by city telephones to the wholesale or merchandising house designated by the merchant. In addition to this service being made available between any two points on the I. & S. E. lines, it is extended to all points on the T. H., I. & E. traction system, Including such towns as Crawfordsville, Lafayette, Terre Haute, Lebanon, Richmond and others. Maintain Hourly Schedule Telephone orders apply both to express and freight alike. This service gives merchants a fast and sure service. Express service is maintained on an hourly schedule in both directions, on both Greensburg and Connersville divisions. Express shipment orders are delivered in from one to three hours after delivery to the express office, freight being delivered not later than the following morning.

agents until received by the shipper is less than ten minutes. This additional service given patrons greatly has expedited the dispatch of freight and express shipments without any additional cost and it also means quite a saving of time to the shipper or consignee as well as a greatly improved sendee for the reason that when orders are so placed for shipment by way of express or dispatch freight, they will be received in from one to three hours after receipt at the company’s express office at the shipping point, and when ordered for regular freight service not later than next morning delivery. That this service appeals to the shipper is evidenced by the many responses, and this carries with it the evidence that it is an earnest effort on the part of the Terre Haute, Indianapolis & Eastern Traction Company to co-operate to the fullest extent with their patrons.

REFINEMENT AND COMFDRT FOUND AT SPINK-ARMS Apartments and Transient Rooms Provided by Modern Hotel. Comfort and refinement are combined in the accommondations provided transients and permanent residents at the Spink-Arms hotel, North Meridian street north of Vermont. With Its annex, the Spink-Arms provides a total of 223 reasonablypriced units, ranging from one-room and bath hotel apartments, to threebedroom apartments. The annex, built forty years ago by General Lew Wallace, author of “Ben Hur,” was the first apartment building in Indianapolis. Built ten years ago as an apartment hotel by E. G. Spink, Its location, only three blocks from the Monument circle, was “uptown.” Today, with convenient closeness to the shopping district and theaters, facing the beautiful World War memorial plaza and the absence of downtown street noises, the SpinkArms is the favorite of both transient and permanent guests. 60 Rooms Converted The E. G. Spink Company, in the last year has spent $50,000 refurnishing and converting sixty of the one-room alcove type apartments into spacious single and double rooms for tourists and transients. These attractive rooms, equipped with twin beds, tubs, showers, vanities and handsome, overstuffed living room suites, are unique for their roomy comfort and unusual number of windows. The rooms are 28x12 feet in diameter, with two alcoves, each Bx 6 feet, more than doubling the width. Growth of the business district, which increased demand for transient rooms, also - resulted in remodeling of the lobby to combine characteristics of a metropolitan hotel lobby and the comfortable lounge room of a country club. Provides for Privacy The lobby was rearranged to allow groups to gather in nooks, alcoves and divided wall-less spaces for privacy. The Spink-Arms maintains, besides the main dining room, several smaller dining rooms and private rooms for small parties, and a tea room and fountain open until midnight daily. Two public garages at the rear of the hotel provide satisfactory parking facilities.
