CLARKE STARTS REFINANCING OF FOX INTERESTS Utility Magnate’s Scheme to Save $1,000,000 a Year in Interest. Bv Unit'd Preu NEW YORK, April 18.—The huge Interests of the Fox Film and Fox Theaters Corporations will undergo a reorganization plan, calculated to yield $30,000,000 more than any previously considered, in an effort to put the corporation on a sound basis, it was learned today. Harley L. Clarke, who recently bought control of the enterprises from William Fox, the founder, said the plan would save more than *1,000,000 a year in interest charges and would wipe out current obligations exceeding $100,000,000. The plan includes acquisition of the 660,900 shares of Loew stock held by the Fox Theaters Corporation by the film organization which will pay it $27,000,000 in cash and 1,600,000 shares of Fox Film Corporation A stock. The Class A stock in turn will be sold to the General Theaters Equipment Company, of which Clarke is president, for $48,000,000. Clarke said the sum realized by the theaters corporations exceeded the cost of the Loew stock and would enable it to pay off its indebtedness and retain some working capital. The film corporation already has issued $55,000,000 of 6 per cent oneyear obligations to enable it to pay its debts.
