Jones asserted. ‘The government is being financed by the people. "Our job is to eliminate politics and make public employment service a profession. "Seeing that the citizens are properly and constantly employed is a fundamental governmental function and ranks in importance next to the public schools. “No one in America should have to pay to get a job.” Jones termed unemployment an "industrial disease” and asserted that Indiana particularly has been afflicted. Jones also said President Hoover saved the country from panic. The conference continued today.

Brendenwood, for an accounting of thousands of dollars they were convicted of embezzling, was started today by Prosecutor Judson L. Stark. The two men today began serving the second day of two to fourteenyear sentences given them Wednesday by Criminal Judge James A. Collins. They will be held in the county jail one week for questioning and then will be taken to the state prison. How Peterson and Keyes disposed of more than $200,000 they are alleged to have obtained fraudulently in a giant finance scheme to save their sales company from ruin and to keep their local credit alive, will be the keynote of Stark's probe. An auditing of the company’s books probably will be started at once by George A. Van Dyke Jr., vice-president of the Quick Repair Washer Company, in the State Savings and Trust building, who was
appointed receiver Wednesday by Superior Judge William S. McMaster. Every effort will be made to recover the life savings of at least four men who fell victims to Keyes and Peterson, Stark said. One of these victims, Herbert Bretzloff, a Detroit resident, formerly of Indianapolis, alleges he lost about SIOO,OOO. Local men blame the convicted pair with fraudulently obtaining funds up to $17.000.
